OF BONY FISHES
The excretory
system of fish
consists of
two elongated
kidney, small
urinary
bladder,
urogenital
papilla, and
two short
mesonephric
duct.
KIDNEYS
- Kidneys filter waste from the blood

- Through usage of energy, fish are able


to break down the nitrates and
ammonia to a more usable source of
urea.
Freshwater bony fishes
 Large volume of urine, salts are
reabsorbed in the distal tubules

Marine bony fishes


 Lack distal tubule, smaller
glomerulus, can adjust amount of
urine
