This document discusses various types of pollution including air, water, land, noise, and light pollution. It provides details on the causes and effects of each type of pollution. Three key points made are:
1) The main types of pollution are caused by the introduction of contaminants from sources like wastewater, sewage, fertilizers, vehicles, and industry.
2) Pollution has serious negative health impacts on humans such as heart and lung problems from air pollution and risks of cancer from land and soil pollution.
3) Governments are taking steps to mitigate pollution through policies, education programs, and technologies like bioremediation to control emissions and clean up contaminated environments.

SAFETY IN THE
ENVIRONMENT POLLUTION and ROAD SAFETY are two of the most usual issues THE ISSUE POLLUTION
Is the introduction of contaminants
into the Natural Environment that cause adverse change, in the form of Killing of life, toxicity of environment and damage to ecosystem. TYPES OF POLLUTION 1. Air Pollution There are two types of air pollutants, primary and secondary. Primary pollutants are emitted directly from their source, while secondary pollutants are formed when primary pollutants react in the atmosphere. • 1. Effects of Air Pollution • High levels of air pollution can cause an increased risk of heart attack, wheezing, coughing, and breathing problems, and irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat. Air pollution can also cause worsening of existing heart problems, asthma, and other lung complications. 2. Water Pollution Nutrient pollution is caused by wastewater, sewage, and fertilizers. The high levels of nutrients in these sources end up in bodies of water and promote algae and weed growth, which can make the water undrinkable and depleted oxygen causing aquatic organisms to die. • 2. Effects of Water Pollution • Water pollution is a serious threat to humans, animals, and aquatic life. • The effects of water pollution depend on which chemicals are being dumped where. Bodies of water that are near urbanized areas tend to be heavily polluted by dumbing of garbage and chemicals, both legally and illegally, by industrial plants, health centers, and individuals. • 3. Land & Soil Pollution • Land pollution is the destruction of land as a result of human’s activities and the misuse of land resources. This occurs when humans apply chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides to the soil, dispose of waste improperly, and irresponsibly exploit minerals through mining. • 3. Effects of Land & Soil Pollution • Land and soil pollution has substantial consequences for humans, animals, microorganisms and aquatic life. Contaminated land and soil can cause various problems on the skin, respiratory problems, and even different kinds of cancers. • 4. Noise & Light Pollution • Noise is considered an environmental pollutant caused by household sources, social events, commercial and industrial activities, and transportation. • 4. Effects of Noise & Light Pollution • Noise pollution can cause stress, anxiety, headaches, irritability, hearing loss, and sleep loss resulting in decreased productivity. MOST POLLUTED WORLD CITIES 1. Cairo (Egypt) 2. Delhi (India) 3. Kolkata (India) 4. Tianjin (China) 5. Chongqing (China) 6. Kanpur (India) 7. Lucknow (India) 8. Jakarta (Indonesia) 9. Shenyang (China) WHY IT HAPPEND
• With the exponential growth in
population, more resources are being demanded and suplied to the people. However, people do not manage this resources properly. Thus pollution arises. WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVE & SOLUTIONS?
• The control of the emission of various
contaminants into the environment which brings down the level of the pollution is done by various updated methods. The various technologies which control the pollution are Bioremediation laser methods, chemical methods, nanotechnology etc. • Phytoremediation is a way to mitigate environment pollutions, such as in air, water and soil pollution in virtue of plants, more often than not, combined with their associated microorganisms. This concept has been widely applied to treat pollutants in soil and water. Vapour recovery is the process of recovering the vapours of gasoline or other fuels, so that they do not escape into the atmosphere. WHAT DID THE GOVERNMENT DO? • That is why the goverment mandated the republic act no. 9512 or the National Environmental Awareness and Education Act. Of 2008. This act promotes environmental awareness through environmental education. Various Educational Agencies like, DSWD, DOST, and DENR, shall integrate environmental education in their curriula. It shal encompass the concepts and principles, laws, international and national best practises. • In addition, environmental education shall also be part of The National Service Training Program ( NSTP).
