1.Introduction
 what is Hydraulics
Hydraulics is the use of a liquid under pressure to transfer force or
motion, or to increase an applied force.

The pressure on a liquid is called HYRAULIC PRESSURE.

And the brakes which are operated by means of hydraulic pressure

are called HYDRAULIC BRAKES.

These brakes are based on the principle of Pascal’s law.

1.1 INTRODUCTION
what is Hydraulic Brake system
A hydraulic brake is an arrangement
of braking mechanism which uses brake fluid,
typically containing glycol ethers or diethylene
glycol, to transfer pressure from the controlling
mechanism to the braking mechanism
1.2 INTRODUCTION
CONSTRUCTION
• The most common arrangement of hydraulic brakes for passenger vehicles,
motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds, consists of the following:
• Brake pedal or lever
• A pushrod (also called an actuating rod)
• A master cylinder assembly containing a piston assembly (made up of
either one or two pistons, a return spring, a series of gaskets/ O-rings and a
fluid reservoir)
• Reinforced hydraulic lines
• Brake caliper assembly usually consisting of one or two hollow aluminum
or chrome-plated steel pistons (called caliper pistons), a set of thermally
conductive brake pads
1.3 INTRODUCTION
WORKING OF HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEMS
• Hydraulic brakes work on the principle of Pascals law

• Hydraulic brakes work on the principle that pressure applied to a

liquid becomes equally distributed throughout its container. This
is exactly what you want when the need is to apply equal pressure
to various devices located at a distance from each other. So, if you
press the brake pedal and generate a pressure of 50 psi in the
master cylinder, that same pressure will be applied inside all the
brake cylinders at the same time producing equal braking force to
both sides of the vehicle. That is, as long as all the brake system is
in good order.

5. CONCLUSION

 Higher inlet velocity and feed concentration should be adopted to

achieve greater yield capacity.
 For the particle size les than 12micrometer the v=2.5m/s,
n=1865rpm, c=7.5%.
 For the partition sixe less than 35micrometer, the v=2.5m/s,
n=905rpm,and c=24.5%.
