The house is situated at Santa ana Manila
where it is known for its architectural heritage
known as Santa Ana Heritage District which is
composed of numerous historic ancestral
houses, Plaza Hugo, and the Santa Ana
Church. Also, it is one of the capital’s
historically and culturally rich areas.

The house is 61 years existing since it was
built in 1958. The year before my
grandparents had their first child which is my
uncle. It has really sentimental value for us
especially this house came up against
calamities and still managed to be resilient.
“ Hindi mo matatawag na bahay ito kung

lahat tayo ay susuko agad dahil tayo ang
pundasyon para manatiling matibay ‘to”

A mother of 2 siblings – Rosa Cruz and

Honorio Cruz. Emiliana was a legitimate
resident of New Panaderos st., Sta. Ana,
Manila since 1958 the year when the house
was built. She dreamed to have a
substantial house ever since she
graduated college in 1930’s, so the
moment she had earned she abruptly
made a decision to make her dream into
reality.

HERITAGE?
• In the old plan of the house, it can be
seen that it was on stilts because the past
context of its community was a huge rice
field where it needed to be elevated for
protection from vermin and against
flooding.
• Underneath the house is called “Silong”
