    DISPOSAL
    WASTE DISPOSAL
    -is a blanket term for
    collecting, processing
    or recycling waste
    materials.
    Republic Act no. 9003
    -An act providing for an ecological
    solid waste management program,
    creating the necessary institutional
    mechanism and incentives ,
    declaring certain acts prohibited
    and providing penalties,
    appropriating funds therefore, and
    for other purposes.
    Cause and Effects
     Soil,
    water and air pollution can all be
    a result of improper waste disposal
    and occurs when either of them
    become contaminated with hazardous
    materials. Not only does this contribute
    to the creation of a greenhouse gas
    effects but also cause significant harm
    to marine and wildlife.
     Exposure to hazardous waste can
    affect human health, children being
    more vulnerable to these
    pollutants. In fact, direct exposure
    can lead to diseases through
    chemical exposure as the release
    of chemical waste into the
    environment leads to chemical
    poisoning.
    MITIGATION
    -Segregation and storage of
    different types of waste in different
    containers, skips or stockpiles to
    enhance reuse or recycling of
    materials and their proper
    disposal.
     REDUCING – try to reduce the amount
    of waste you produce, as this is the best
    way to help the environment.

     REUSING-think of ways you could


    reuse something.

     RECYCLING – this enables the materials


    you throw away to be used again by
    making them into new products,
    DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT
    AND NATURAL RESOURCES
     - the DENR is principally responsible for
    the conservation, management,
    development and proper use of the
    country’s environment and natural
    resources, specifically forest and
    grazing lands, mineral resources and
    lands of public domain, as well as the
    licensing and regulation of all natural
    resources.
    MUNICIPAL ENVIRONMENT AND
    NATURAL RESOURCES OFFICE
     -the MENRO take charge of the
    Municipal Environment and Natural
    Resources Office. Their
    responsibilities is to manage,
    conserve, preserve and protect the
    environment and natural resources
    of the municipality.

     Examples of waste that can sell are


    plastic bottles, papers and cans.
    5 TYPES OF WASTE
     PAGPAG (leftover food)
    - is a tagalog term for leftover food
    from restaurant (usually from fast food
    restaurants) scavenged from garbage
    sites and dumps. Pagpag food can also
    be expired frozen meat, fish or
    vegetables discarded by supermarkets
    and scavenged in garbage trucks where
    those expired foods are collected.
    NABUBULOK ( biodegradable )
     Biodegradable materials can be
    decomposed by microorganisms
    such as bacteria, enzymes and
    fungi.
     Example of this are fruits and

    vegetables.
    DI NABUBULOK ( non-
    biodegradable)
     1.Recyclable Waste
     - refers to any waste materials

    retrieved from the waste stream and


    free from contamination that can still be
    converted into suitable beneficial use.
     Ex. Glass bottle Tin Cans
     Metal Newspaper
     2. Residual Waste
     are solid waste materials that are
    non-compostable and non-recyclable.
    They should be disposed ecologically
    through a long term disposal facility or
    sanitary landfill.
     Ex. Cigarette Butts
     Candy Wrappers
     Plastic Sachets
     Diaper/Napkin
    INFECTIOUS WASTE
    - Infectious waste is waste that
    poses an environmental danger
    due to its biological risk. It includes
    human waste, animal waste and
    objects and materials
    contaminated with blood and body
    fluids containing disease- causing
    microorganisms or viruses.
