• Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation is a jointly owned by Indian


Government and State Government for planning, implementation and
operation of Lucknow Metro project.

• Apart from Equity contribution by the two Governments, project is


being funded by soft loan from European Investment Bank (EIB) and
contribution by local bodies.

• Based on PHPDT, two routes; one connecting North to South and East to
West were identified. North – South corridor with a total length of
22.878 km.
• East- West corridor with its Length of 11.098.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Mission:-To create and provide quality services to the inhabitants and visitors of Lucknow, through a World
Class Mass Rapid Transit System that is convenient, safe, fast, reliable and cost effective.
About Metro:-
• Lucknow Metro Rail Project is a joint venture Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) project between the
Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
• Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation Limited or LMRC is responsible to build and operate this network.
• Technical clearance from the Ministry of Railways, which LMRC received on 8th June 2017
• Second clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) was given to LMRC on 14th
August 2017.
• The priority corridor of Lucknow metro became operational on 5th September 2017.
Financial description

• The project is being implemented on 50:50 model , with


equity sharing by GoI and GoUP.

• Over 50% of the project (Rs 3502 cr) is being funded


through foreign debt from The European Investment Bank
(EIB).

About Metro

The proposed metro for Lucknow consists of two corridors namely:


1. North-South Corridor: CCS Airport – Munshi Pulia
2. East West Corridor: Charbagh/Lucknow Railway Station – Vasant Kunj

Current Status

The cumulative ridership of the metro rail in Lucknow crossed 1 million (1 million) in the first 70 days of
commercial operation; the rapid-transit system received 31,688 passengers on its inaugural day of
services, the and recorded a ridership of 41,075 on 10 September.
As of June 2018, the daily ridership of Lucknow Metro ranges between 10,000 and 11,000; with monthly
ridership being 480,000 (480,000) in September 2017,and around 300,000 (300,000) in January,
February, March and April 2018.

Revenue generation:-

• 85%- from fares (smart cards & tokens)

• 15 %- from the property development (commercial


spaces for cafes, book-stores, shops, ATM centers )
Findings

• Last Mile Connectivity Problem


• Stations like Transport nagar, Alambagh bus stand , Shringar nagar
does not have parking facilities, due to less land availability entry
and exit gates are on the same side.
• Less Ridership then expected results
• E-rickshaw services are not adequate in number only 19 .
