STRATEGIES IN

INTEGRATION OF
VALUES
1. INCOMPLETE
SENTENCE
This calls for the learners to complete a
sentence or sentences that are related
to the lessons

The main purpose is to draw responses

from the learners that will reveal their
choices, beliefs, opinions, preferences,
feelings, and the like
Example:
During your English class, you have read
about “The Necklace “ by Guy de
Maupassant. At the end of the story,
you can ask them to fill out the
sentence below based on their
opinions:
1. The story
is__________________________

2. If I were Mathilde, I
would_______________
In science, you conducted an
experiment on the factors that affects
solubility, you can ask them to fill out
the sentence at the end of the
experiment:

1. The experiment is_________________

2. Giving One’s Title a
Poem/Story/Paragraph read

The learners could be asked to give

their own title. It could be done by
groups or by individuals. The
important thing is to give them a
chance to explain their choice for
such title.
1. A story tells that two friends were walking
through the desert. During some point of the
journey they had an argument, and one friend
slapped the other one in the face. The one who
got slapped was hurt, but without saying
anything, wrote in the sand: "TODAY MY BEST
FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE."
They kept on walking until they found an oasis,
where they decided to take a bath. The one, who
had been slapped, got stuck in the mire and
started drowning, but the friend saved him. After
the friend recovered from the near drowning, he
wrote on a stone: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND
SAVED MY LIFE."
The friend who had slapped and saved his
best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you
wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone,
why?"
The other friend replied: "When someone hurts
us, we should write it down in sand where winds
of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when
someone does something good for us, we must
engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase
it."
LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND,
AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE
2. A certain man planted a rose and watered it
faithfully and before it blossomed, he examined it.
He saw the bud that would soon blossom, but
noticed thorns upon the stem and he thought,
"How can any beautiful flower come from a plant
burdened with so many sharp thorns? Saddened
by this thought, he neglected to water the rose,
and just before it was ready to bloom... it died.
So it is with many people. Within every soul there
is a rose. The God-like qualities planted in us at
birth, grow amid the thorns of our faults. Many of
us look at ourselves and see only the thorns, the
defects.
We despair, thinking that nothing good can possibly
come from us. We neglect to water the good within us,
and eventually it dies. We never realize our potential.
Some people do not see the rose within themselves;
someone else must show it to them. One of the
greatest gifts a person can possess is to be able to
reach past the thorns of another, and find the rose
within them.
This is one of the characteristic of love... to look at a
person, know their true faults and accepting that
person into your life... all the while recognizing the
nobility in their soul. Help others to realize they can
overcome their faults. If we show them the "rose"
within themselves, they will conquer their thorns. Only
then will they blossom many times over.
“Boss, bakit mo inaalis iyan? Tiyak, marami
pang interesado diyan!” aniya .
“Eh, sir, walong buwan na po itong nakapaskil.”
Inagaw niya ang anunsiyo sa lalaki. Nanlumo
siya sa nakita. Sana’y nabasa niya ang petsang nasa
ibaba ng anunsiyo.
Make a memory with your children,
Spend some time to show you care;
Toys and trinkets can't replace those
Precious moments that you share.
Money doesn't buy real pleasure, It
doesn't matter where you live;
Children need your own attention,
Something only you can give.
Childhood's days pass all too quickly,
Happy memories all too few;
Plan to do that special something, Take
the time to go or do.
Make a memory with your children,
Take the time in busy days;.
Have some fun while they are growing,
Show your love in gentle ways.
3. Using Value-Judgment
Questions

This could be done at any phase of

the lesson. This is the most common
strategy because practically, this is
part and parcel of teaching
Examples
1. If you were Rizal, would you have
chosen to live rather than die? Why?
(Social Studies)
2. Do you think Nobel had the the
right to invent the dynamite?
(Science)

3. Would you do the same things as

Mathilde did? (English)
4. Giving Caption to a Picture

Each is given a chance to present a

caption to the picture then report
will follow afterwards.
Emphasis should be placed on the
reasons for choosing the title and
the manner by which is arrived at.
5. Values Voting

Here, the teacher reads aloud in one by one questions

which begin with:
“How many of you________?” After each is read, the
learners take a stand by doing any of the following:
a. Raising their hands (Affirmative)
b. Pointing their thumbs down (negative)
c. Folding their arms (undecided)
d. Taking no action at all (pass)
How many of you really believe
that love is blind?
Raise you hands (if you strongly
believe)
Point your thumbs down (if you
strongly disagree)
Fold you arms (if you don’t know
because sometimes it is,
sometimes it ‘s not)
Stand (when don’t care to answer)
