What Is CTM ???

 CTM or Chlor-trimeton is trade name of chlorphenamine


 CTM is an antihistamine, histamine is a subtances that cause allergies
 It can reduces
- Sneezing, Itching, Watery Eyes, and Runny Nose
Composition
 Chlorpheniramine maleate contains not less than 98.0% C16H19ClN2.C4H4O4 dried substance.

ethyl] benzyl pyridine maleate
 Chlorpheniramine maleate has a molecular weight of 390.87.
 Compounding, floured crystal, white, and odorless.
 The solution has a pH of between 4 and 5 Solubility: easily soluble in water; soluble in ethanol
and in chloroform; sparingly soluble in ether and in benzene (POM DG, 1995).
Indication

 Treatment of allergy symptoms such as:


- Sneezing
- Rhinorrhea
- Urticaria
- pruritus
Contra-Indication
You should not use chlorpheniramine if you are allergic to it, or if you
have:
 • narrow-angle glaucoma;
 • a blockage in your stomach or intestines;
 • an enlarged prostate;
 • if you are unable to urinate; or
 • if you are having an asthma attack.
Dosage

 -Adult : 3-4 times a day 0.5 - 1 tablet.


 - Children : 6-12 years: adult dose 0.5.
- Children : 1-6 years: 0:25 adult dose.
side effects

 Gastrointestinal disorders  Headache


 Muscarinic effects  stimulate the central
 Hypotension nervous system

 Muscular weakness  allergic reactions

 Tinnitus  blood disorders, and

 Euphoria  sedation (sleepiness),


Warning

 During this medicine, do not drive a motor vehicle or


operate any machinery. these drugs have interactions with
alcohol, CNS depressants, anti-cholinergic
