Electronics
• the science dealing with the development and
application of devices and systems involving the flow
of electrons or other carriers of electric charge, in a
vacuum, in gaseous media, in plasma, in
semiconductors, in solid-state and/or in similar
devices, including, but not limited to, applications
involving optical, electromagnetic and other energy
forms when transduced or converted into electronic
signals

2 TYPES OF ELECTRONIC SIGNAL

DIGITAL – electronic signals that are ANALOG – electronic signals that

describe as discrete; their amplitude the amplitude changes
maintains a constant level for a continuously with respect to
prescribed period of time then it time with no breaks or
changes to another level discontinuities
Two Types of Electronic Circuits
1. Discrete Circuit/ Component – A discrete circuit is an electronic circuit built
out of discrete components, such as resistors, transistors, etc., instead of a
single integrated circuit.

2. Integrated Circuit (IC) – is a semiconductor wafer on which thousands or

millions of tiny resistors, capacitors, and transistors are fabricated. An IC can
function as an amplifier, oscillator, timer, counter, computer memory, etc. The
first integrated circuit was developed in the 1950s by Jack Kilby of Texas
Instruments and Robert Noyce of Fairchild Semiconductor.
