Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre ( SKICC) is

set on the magnificent Dal Lake, is a blend of natural and man-
made architecture designed by Joseph Stein. Sher-i-Kashmir
International Conference Centre is equipped with infrastructure,
which makes it an ideal destination for large and small
conferences.
SKICC has hosted large number of international & national

level conferences like inter-state council meet, international
laparoscopic conference recently. It has been the host for all
presidential conferences while different presidents of
India visited the valley and has hosted Prime Ministers’
visits also. It is climate conditioned and has video conference

The site is surrounded on three sides by Dal Lake which acts
as catchment area for the site. The lake is located within a
catchment area covering 316 Sq Km.
The chief vegetation on site is chinar, poplar, willow trees .

ATRIUM STYLE LOBBY

(28'6''x40'3'') A coffer in architecture, is a series of
sunken panels in the shape of a square,
rectangle, or octagon in a ceiling,
soffit or vault. A series of these sunken
panels were used as decoration for a
ceiling or a vault, also called caissons,
or lacunaria, so that a coffered
ceiling can be called a lacunar
ceiling.

AUDITORIUM
Ergonomically designed climate conditioned auditorium

descending in stepped fashion can seat 650 delegates, each
having ample desk and self space, microphones with
simultaneous translation into 6 languages mounted with
selector channels make it a unique experience.
The sophisticated audio visual equipped with sound proof

press gallery, projection room, visitor galleries and back stage
green rooms are the chief features of the plenary hall.

SWOT ANALYSIS – AUDITORIUM (SKICC)
STRENGTH
• Is located in close proximity with all the important destinations
• It has tourist as well as official importance
• SKICC has an exhibition hall an auditorium and can also
accommodate the visitors in the CENTAUR LAKE VIEW
HOTEL next to it.
• SKICC is located at boulevard road which does not see much
traffic hence it is free of noise and a perfect space for a
conference.
• The climate conditioned auditorium is equipped with required
infrastructure of international standard.
• The variety of halls and other conference tourism facilities
makes it an ideal conference venue
• The proximity of the site to lake makes is vulnerable to Floods,
to tackle this problem, it is built on a raised level than the main
road level.
WEAKNESS
• Public transport is not easily available to the location.
OPPORTUNITIES
• SKICC has a great potential for promoting tourism in the
valley
• It is a place where people can showcase / exhibit their art.
THREAT
• The interior is build with wood, and in case of an emergency it
will prove to be fatal.
