In honour of Jose Rizal's 150th birthday, the

critically acclaimed musical, adapted by Ryan
Cayabyab from Rizal's most famous work, with
libretto by National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera,
will be re-staged in coordination with the
Department of Education (DepEd), and will also
serve as the launch of the National Campaign
urging high school students to join forces with
the Kabataang Rizal Movement in order to
promote the ideals of Rizal and his vision for the
Philippines.

Perez has spent over two decades
eloquently dissecting the Filipino psyche.
His plays deal with adult themes such as
intense love, betrayal, separation,
compassion, poverty, hunger, marriage, birth,
and death. All with a particular style and
poignant perspective unique to Tony Perez.

wardrobe hires two weavers who promise
him the finest suit of clothes from a fabric
invisible to anyone who is unfit for his
position a child in the crowd calls out that
the Emperor is wearing nothing at all!

The play examines the Filipino culture

through the drama of two spinsters living
with their ailing father, Don Lorenzo
Marasigan, a painter and a painter who has
recently painted a patriot who has recently
painted a farewell masterpiece - work of art
that embodies the mystery of being Filipino.

Anatomiya ng Korupsiyon
Director: Roobak Valle
Malou Jacob's dark comedy focuses on the

life of government functionaries, their
happy indifference, mindless irresponsibility,
and ignorant bliss.
The story follows an idealistic young lawyer
as she struggles against this world hoping
to undo its tangled web of corruption, red-
tape, and backroom deals. A battle where
the price of winning may cost her
everything.

Three Faces of Heroism
Directors: Soxy Topacio/Denisa Reyes
Three plays by Paul Dumol, Rene

Villanueva, and Malou Jacob, each one
tackling the question of Heroism from a
different point of view. From the
perspective of tyranny and cruelty in the
case of Rizal, conduct and conscience in
regards to Antonio Luna, and within the
context of nobility and the flowering of the
Filipino spirit as exemplified by the actions
and thoughts of Apolinario Mabini.
Teresa, Gregoria, Teodora
Mother Philippines
Director: Ana Valdes-Lim
Teresa by Malou Jacob reminds us that the

Philippine Revolution was not contained to
the Tagalog provinces and was not a battle
fought only by men. Horror and suspense
are evident in Gregoria by Rene
Villanueva as Bonifacio’s brave widow,
Gregoria de Jesus, recalls the passion and
death of the Supremo in Cavite at the
hands of fellow revolutionaries, Aguinaldo’s
henchmen.
Teodora by Villanueva and Honorio
Magbalic, focuses on Rizal’s mother
Teodora Alonzo, in her search for inner
peace.
Kutsilyo, Pamaypay at Yantok
Director: Tess Jamias
Kutsilyo, Pamaypay at Yantok is a trilogy

of classic scene studies that probe deeper
into Rizal’s characters. “Ang Balutan ng
Gamot at Pagkain,” written by Nick
Pichay parodies the usually dramatic
characterization of Maria Clara and Ibarra.
“Kabanata X,” written by Chris Millado is a
tender scene between Elias and Salome.
“Ang Nazarena,” also written by Chris
Millado, is a violent scene that dramatizes
the physical and mental torture that Sisa
suffers in the hands of her abusive
husband and that leads to the complete
loss of her sanity.
F. Sionil Jose’s
PRAGRES
Director: Herbie go
A musical adaptation of F. Sionil Jose’s story. Set during the Martial Law, a
provincial senior clerk is sent through an arduous affair of going to Manila to
seek the endorsement of her promotion. As she encounters one beaurocrat
after another, she drowns in incompetence and corruption.
