The document discusses NASA jobs and the types of planets in our solar system. It provides details about each planet, including composition, size, temperature and moons. It notes that NASA jobs include 60% engineering and science roles, with the remainder being administrative, clerical, technical and medical support. The planets are divided into terrestrial, gas giant and ice giants. Facts provided include each planet's distance from the sun and Earth.

How I chose
my topic NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration)
NASA offers a lot of different jobs.
NASA is broken in different categories of types jobs. • 60% is Engineering and Scientific (computer engineering, computer science, and meteorology) • 24% is Administrative and Management (Administrative specialist, and Budget Analy
• 7% is Clerical and Administrative Support
(Secretary) • 9% is Technical and Medical Support (Electro technician, and Meteorological technician) Planets In Our Solar System Types of planets • Our solar system has three types of planets. • Terrestrial planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars) • Second type is gas giants (Jupiter and Saturn) • Third type is ice giants (Neptune, Uranus) • Terrestrial means that a planet is composed primarily of rocks, or metals. • Gas Giants means that a planet is composed primarily of hydrogen, helium, methane, and ammonia. • Ice Giants means that a planet is composed mainly of elements like oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur. Sun The sun is the center of the solar system all planets orbit around the sun. Age of the sun is about 4.6 billion years Type of sun Yellow Dwarf The sun is in its middle age has not changed much Our sun is not the hottest. The hottest stars would be blue stars(surface temperature is about 72,000 F) which can mean that the star is young. The least hottest would be red stars surface temperature are about 6,700 F, or less. The Sun's surface temperature is about 10,000 Fahrenheit The core is about 27 million Fahrenheit Earths 's surface temperature is about 59 Fahrenheit The Sun is made out of gases 70% hydrogen, 28% helium, and Carbon, nitrogen and oxygen make up 1.5% The last .5% is made out of neon, iron, silicon, magnesium and sulfur. Facts about the Sun • Eventually the sun will consume Earth, because the sun will run out of hydrogen, and cause the sun to expand and cover Mercury, Venus, and Earth. Then the sun would turn into a red giant sun. • The sun has enough hydrogen to burn for about 5 billion more years. • You can fit about 1.3 million earths into the sun. • Light from the sun takes 8 minutes to reach earth. • Mercury Mercury was discovered in 265 BC. Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar system and the closest to the sun . Mercury does not have moons orbiting it. Age is about 4.5 billion years Mercury is the second hottest planet in our solar system. Temperatures average from –279F at night to 801F at day. Mercury is not hot, because it's atmosphere is really weak. Facts on Mercury • Mercury is almost the same size as our moon, but is a little bigger. • 88 days in Earth is equal to 1 year in Mercury. • Hard to study, because it's so close to the sun. • Mercury's iron core takes up 75% of the planet's radius • You would also weigh less in Mercury 38% less • Only two space crafts have visited Mercury Venus • Venus has no moons • Venus age is 4.503 billion years old • Named after the Roman Goddess of love and beauty • Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system • Venus temperature averages to 864 F • Venus's has an iron core • Venus's mantle is rocky • Venus's atmosphere is made out of carbon dioxide 96%, and 3% is nitrogen and other gases make up the 1 %. • Venus was discovered in 1610. Facts on Venus • Venus has the most volcanoes in our solar system and scientist think that the volcanoes are still active. • Winds are really fast at Venus and reach speeds up to 450 miles/Hour • Venus is covered of thick clouds of sulfuric acid and light cannot penetrate through. Also telescopes cannot see Venus' surface • You are able to see Venus without a telescope due to it being so bright in the night. Earth • Earth is about 4.54 billion years old • Has an atmosphere that is made up of gases 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, .93% Argon, and .04 carbon dioxide • Earth has one moon • Earth's ocean makes up 71% of Earth's surface, and contains 97% of Earth's water. 29% of Earth's surface is land. • Earth has a core, Earth's inner core is made out of iron, and nickel. • The core's temperature is about 10,800 F about the same temperature as the sun's surface. • Only 3% of Earth's water is fresh The reasons why we are able to live on Earth.
• Earth has fresh water that keeps humans,
animals, and plants alive. • Earth also has oxygen that helps us to produce energy for our bodies, and keeps us alive. • Earth also has plants, and trees that produce oxygen. • We also have an atmosphere that that protects us from the sun's radiation, and captures heat to keep us warm. • Lastly Earth has a magnetic field that protects us from space radiation and solar winds Facts on Earth
Earth has a population of 7.6
billion people. Earth is a terrestrial planet Mars • Mars was discovered in 1659. • Mars was named after the Roman God of war. • Mars has a diameter of 4,212 miles. • Mars is the second smallest planet in our solar system. • Mars has a surface and it is made out of rocks, and a thick layer of oxidized iron. • Mars has 2 moons. • Mars has a thin atmosphere that is made of 95% carbon dioxide , 1.89% Nitrogen , and 1.93% argon Facts on Mars • Mars is a terrestrial planet. • Mars has the largest volcano named Olympus Mons measuring 600 kilometer in length and 16 miles high. • Mars is 54.6 million kilometers from Earth. • Mars winds can reach up to 60 miles/hour • NASA is trying to send people to Mars in 2030. • NASA has even started programs that would help send humans to Mars. • NASA has sent rovers to Mars to study the climate of mars, study soils, and rocks. To see if there is water activity in Mars, or if there was water activity. Lastly the last goal for the rover is to prepare for human exploration in mars.

Jupiter • Jupiter has 67 moons, and 4 rings • Jupiter was named after the kings in Roman mythology. • Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system, and the biggest gas giant. • 1,300 earths can fit in Jupiter. • Jupiter was discovered in 1610 • Jupiter has a diameter of 86,881 miles • Jupiter's atmosphere is made out of 90% hydrogen, and 10% helium. • Jupiter is made up of water, methane, and ammonia. Facts on Jupiter • Jupiter has the biggest moon in the solar system named Ganymede, and has a diameter of 3,274 miles. • Jupiter has a red dot that is a high pressure region that produces an anticyclonic storm. • Anticyclonic is a storm that the winds around the storm flow in the opposite direction to a region of low pressure storm. • The red dot storm has been ragging about 200 years. • Jupiter has no outer crust. • Jupiter's core temperature can average to 43,000 degree F • Jupiter is the oldest planet in our solar system Jupiter Saturn • Saturn is the second biggest planet. • Named after the God of agriculture and harvest. • Saturn is mostly made out of gases. • Saturn atmosphere is made out 96% Hydrogen, and 3% methane, ammonia... • There are a total of 62 moons, but only 53 moons have official names. • 764 Earths could fit in Saturn. • Saturn has rings • The rings are made out of dust, and rocks and ice. • Saturn was discovered in 1610 Facts on Saturn • You are able to see Saturn with your bare eyes, but Saturn will look like a bright golden star. • Saturn has storms that can last up to for months or years. • Saturn has the second biggest moon in our solar system named Titian. • Has 5 different layers of atmosphere (stratosphere, haze, ammonia ice, ammonium hydrosulfide ice, and water ice. • Average temperature –288 F Uranus
• Uranus is an ice giant, because it's composed of
mostly gases.
