CLOSED COOLING WATER

SYSTEM (PGB)
 To supply sufficient quantity of cooling
water to the power island.
 At the lowest temp possible even in
adverse summer conditions by the
advanced PHT Exchangers.
 To provide the cw with adequate pr at all
times by having the expansion tanks in
the system.
Closed Cooling water system
 The CCW system will provide cooling water to the
following consumers.
 1)GT lub oil system by PHT Exchangers
 2)Generator Air cooling system (4nos on each GT)
 3)Boiler FW pumps lub oil and the working oil coolers
 4)Steam turbine lub oil coolers
 5)Steam Turbine control fluid system coolers.
 6)Steam turbine gland steam condensers
 7)Condensate circulating pumps(CPH) gland cooling and
sealing water.
 8)Sample coolers

 Can be used as high point
vent during system filling.

system.
CCW For GT Generator
 The inlet and outlet
headers
 The CW outlet valves
are kept throttled to
have desired flow
depending upon the
cold air temp leaving
the cooler inside the
generator
CCW to the GT lube oil coolers
 PHT exchangers for
all the 5 GTs lube oil
system
 Duplex or twin type
CCW to Boiler feed water pumps
 Supplying to feed
water pump
working oil coolers
and the lube oil
coolers of all the 4
pumps in the plant.
 Inlet v/v full open
and the outlet v/v
throttled
 Temp indicator is
provided on all the
outlet isolation
valves.
CCW to the CPH circulating pumps
 CCW Supply to
the CPH
Circulating pumps
for gland cooling
and sealing.
CCW to the CPH Circulating
pumps
 In the CPH
recirculation
pumps the sealing
water is applied
first and the same
water is tapped off
for the gland
cooling.
Sealing & Gland cooling water
for the CPH Circulation pumps
CCW to the Sample coolers
HRSG
 Cw supply to all
the sample coolers
in the HRSG
 Sample point is
available for the
CW itself in the
sample rack
CCW to the ST lube oil coolers
 PHT Exchangers
CCW to the ST Control fluid coolers
 PHT Coolers in
control fluid
system container
in both the STs
CCW Gland Steam condensers
of Steam Turbines ST10/20
 The Gland steam
condensers are
supplied with
CCW utilized in
the ST lube oil
coolers as the
condensing of the
gland steam can
be achieved with
little higher cw
temp.
PGB PUMPs Protections
 (01PGB05CP001 PISZA)
 Pumps start release:suction pr should be > 2 bar
 Suction pr 2.0bar <min2 pr low warning.
 Suction pr 0.8bar < min3 pr too low alarm
 Dp across the pump: 2.5bar <min1 working
pressure low alarm
 Standby pump will come i/s if the dp across the
running pump :2bar<min2
 <0.8 bar<min3 for >3 minutes Pump will trip on
dp too low across the pump.
System filling & make up valves

done in the pump
suction
 Valves are Located
near the pumps.
 Make up water
source: DM water
System filling & make up valves
 The valves will open if the pr read by

 4 bar <min1
 Close when 4.5bar >max1
 Valves will close on protection 4.8bar
>max2
Make up filling valves
 The make up valve will open when the
suction pr drops to 4 bar
 The make up valve will close when the
suction pr reaches 4.5bar.
 The make up valves close on protection
when the suction pr reaches 4.8bar.
 Low pr alarm at <2 bar
