Breakdown
Occur when there is a faulty in the
equipment that cause the
equipment to not work properly

Shutdown
Carried out when there is a need to
do preventive maintenance or
upgrading the equipment.
Cause of
breakdown

- Transformers experiencing oil leakage

- Ring main unit is not functioning properly
- Underground cable burnt
- Overhead cable (LV/HT) is in tension
- Fuse in the feeder pillar blow
Rechargeable Job
Order (RJO)
PD Mapping

Cause of
shutdown

Preventive
maintenance
Rechargeable Job Order

RJO is carried out when there is a request by

the customer that involve TNB’s equipment
either to reposition, remove or reinstall.

Example :
1. Changing the type of meter
2. Reposition the 5-foot way wire
3. Reposition the service wire
Preventive maintenance
Preventive maintenance are to
maintain the condition and to check
the equipment used for early symptom
that can lead to a breakdown

Examples:
- Spray WD 40 to prevent rusting
- Insulator Resistance test
- Earthing test
- Repaint the equipment
PD Mapping
To check the condition of the
underground cable to detect any
early faulty that can lead to a bigger
problem – a breakdown

Test carried out :

1. Insulation Resistance Test
2. Calibration test
3. Time Domain Reflector (TDR)
4. Partial Discharge test
Substation
• Replacement of transformer (1000 kVA) due to oil leakage

• Preventive maintenance at a substation

• PD mapping at a substation
High Voltage Overhead Line
• Routine maintenance
• Joint overhead cable (heat shrink method)
Low Voltage Overhead Line
Change Insulated Piercing Connector due to loose contact

Re-sleeving
Reposition of 5-foot way line due to house renovation (RJO)
Fault Finders
1. First response team – the first group to arrive when there is a call and
assess the situation before handing over to other team
2. Every call will be answered by a Call Management Centre (CMC) and
be directed to Trouble Call System (TCS).
3. Then all the call will be distributed to respective team.
