Any short coming identified by the review process
must be corrected as soon as possible by making
whatever adjustments are necessary to the policy,

working acceptably well.

PURPOSE AND IMPORTANCE OF SETTING POLICY
FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY
 The health and safety policy of an organization
is an important document that set out the
organizations aims with regard to health and
safety.
 How the goals are to be achieved and who is
responsible for achieving the aims.

 Policy has the role of decision making of both


senior management who formulate it and
middle and junior management who are
required to implement it.

PURPOSE OF HAVING A HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY:
 Declares the Managements Commitment:
The H&S policy manifest the management’s

Policy, the organization sets its own law to
adopt H&S in its organization.

• GENERAL STATEMENT OF INTENT,

• THE ORGANIZATION

• THE ARRANGEMENT SECTION.

STATEMENT OF INTENT
 It must commit the organization to achieving
legal compliance.

 Commitment will be able to achieving a higher


standard than the set by the law.

 This is the matter of corporate policy and nature


of the organization.

 The statement will also usually contain goals and
objectives of the organization.

 The statement of intent should recognize that


managers and workers at all levels within the

breaches of policy may be treated as a disciplinary
offence.
