3G Strategic Nokia: Rollout HSUPA Dynamic BLER & Rollout UL BLER

target optimization
Fact Finding :
Too low BLER target caused high UE Tx power and may
increase UL interference
HSUPA dynamic BLER feature can be utilized to reduce
UE Tx power of EUL users
Background / Objectives:
Recommended to be implement on cell with high UL
interference.

CRF HSUPA
Dynamic BLER

CRF UL BLER
Target Optimization

UL BLER
Target

Action Taken:
Activate HSUPA Dynamic BLER and tune the parameter
related
Pros :

Improvement HSUPA Throughput

Cons :
Pre-requisite Execution Criteria :

Results :
HSDPA Payload increase 2.79%
Traffic CS improve 1.23%
HSDPA & HSUPA Retain slightly improve 0.8%
Average RTWP improve 0.43%

3G Strategic Nokia: Rollout RLC Buffer Optimization

Fact Finding :
HSDPA throughput is limited at 23 Mbps due to less
buffer in the Node-B, while transport is open up to 50
Mbps
AM RLC buffer in several RNC area BALNUS still setting
smaller transmission and receiving
Background / Objectives:
Based on earlier assessment in Truebex 1.0.
Recommended to optimized RLC Buffer in all RNC with
smaller setting.

CRF RLC Buffer

Air Interface

Action Taken:
Increased RLC buffer size and TX window size
Pros :

Improvement HSDPA Throughput

Cons :
Pre-requisite Execution Criteria :

Results :
HSDPA Payload increase 1.31%
Traffic CS maintained
HSDPA & HSUPA Retain still maintained
Average RTWP improve 0.43%

3G Strategic Nokia: Rollout R99 Bitrate Limitation

Fact Finding :
Additional tuning is possible to suppress R99 UL
interference at return channel for HSDPA
Background / Objectives:
Recommended to be rollout to make more capacity for
HSDPA

Results :
HSDPA Payload increase 1.23%
Traffic CS improve maintained
HSDPA & HSUPA Access slightly improve 0.12%
CCSR CS & CCSR PS still maintained
HSDPA & HSUPA Retain still maintained
Average RTWP improve 0.43%

CRF R99 Bitrate

Limitation

Action Taken:
Adjust initial bitrate for R99 DL and UL to 16 kbps
Adjust max bitrate for R99 DL and UL to 64 kbps
Adjust UL DH Return Channel to 64 kbps
Pros :

Improvement HSDPA Throughput

Cons :
Pre-requisite Execution Criteria :

3G Strategic Nokia: Rollout CQI Feedback Cycle Tuning

Fact Finding :
Without feature MEH, CQI feedback cycle is hardcoded
4ms, and with MEH up to 20ms is allowed
too frequent CQI feedback cycle (4ms) may cause
unnecessary UL load
Background / Objectives:
recommended to be implemented on cell with high CCSR

CRF Rollout CQI

Feddback Cycle Tuning

UE
Action Taken:
MEH feature activation (MassEventHandler)
Reduce HSPA users number threshold to trigger CQI
feedback cycle increase from 10 to 0
Set MEHCQIFeedbackCycle to 8ms
Pros :

Improvement HSDPA Throughput

Cons :
UEs can be camped in low CQI longer than before
Pre-requisite Execution Criteria :

Results :
HSDPA Payload increase 2.31%
Traffic CS maintained
CSSR CS & PS Still maintained
HSDPA & HSUPA Retain slightly improve 0.2%
Average RTWP improve 0.53%

3G Strategic Nokia: Rollout SHO Optimization & Compressed Mode

Handling
Fact Finding :
Several case of silent call is triggered by compressed
mode when e1F fulfilled.
TtT e1a for RT/NRT/HSPA 1280ms causing too slow to add
a neighbor cell - increased interference & drop
TtT e1e & e1f for all RAB is set to 100ms, CM is triggered
too fast
Too fast TtT e1c triggering unnecessary SHO
Background / Objectives:
Recommended to be implemented on All cell to decrease
compressed mode due to e1F

Results :
HSDPA Payload increase 7.78%
Traffic CS increase 1.23%
CSSR CS improve 13.80%
CSSR PS improve 5.11%
CCSR CS improve 24.20%
CCSR PS improve 7.53%
HSDPA Retain 21.14%
SHO SR Improve 25.43%
IFHO SR 34.01%

CRF SHO
Optimization & Compressed Mode Ha

Action Taken:
Adjusting TTT for e1a HSPA from 1280ms to 640ms
Adjusting TTT for e1e & e1f for NRT & HSPA from 100ms
to 640ms
Delay e1c by setting TTT to 5s
Pros :

Improvement CCSR & Retainability

Cons :
SHO Overhead increase but still acceptable (<30)

3G Strategic Nokia: Rollout CCH Power Setting Area Nusra

Fact Finding :
WCDMA powers are divided into 3 types of power: Common
Channel, Dedicated Channel Power and HSDPA Power. High
CCH power configuration will limit the available power for
HSDPA which will affect HSDPA throughput
Background / Objectives:
Deploy
the
most
efficient
power
distribution/management
Give more power resource to be used for other services
(R99 and HSDPA)

CRF CCH Power

Setting

Action Taken:
Reduce excessive reserved Common Control Channel
(CCCH) power
Pros :

Improvement HSDPA Throughput

Cons :
Pre-requisite Execution Criteria :

Results :
Throughput HSDPA improve 13.41% (impacted
from site KEFAMENANU7DMT back to normal
under RNC SOE)
HSDPA Payload maintained
CS Traffic increase 1.67%
CSSR CS improve 17.22%
CCSR CS improve 3.7%
