Lets talk about the letters

Read the letters and recognize the objects

Pronunciation of difficult letters

OVEK, AJ (tongue is touching upper palate; hard letter; as in


English word chalk)

UP, UTATI (soft letter; top of the tongue is touching lower teeth;
middle part of the tounge is touching upper palate and upper teeth; no
equivalent in English)
D
DEP, DIP (similar tounge position as , only you are also moving
lower lip; hard letter; many equivalents in English - d as in gin, Jerry, John,
Jack)

AK, UBRE (soft letter; no equivalent in English; similar tongue


position as , only tongue is lower)
LJ
LJUBAV, LJULJAKA (soft letter, as soft L; no real equivalent in English,
but similar to L in milion; tongue is down, touching lower teeth; mouth is half
open)
NJ
NJIVA, NJEN (soft letter, as soft N; no real equivalent in English, but
similar to N in onion; both lips forward, tongue linned on low teeth)

UMA, AMAR (sound like when you want to make silence shhhhh; as in
English shark)
Z
ZVONO, ZUB (sound like bees buzzing, zzzzzzzz; like in English zest)

ENA, IVOT (sound like stronger Z, like in English pleasure)

esto plae, pa ga ujak ljulja. Ja volim najvie
mog brata, a i sa sestrom se dobro slaem.

INTRODUCTIONS AND GREETINGS IN SERBIAN LANGUAGE

You may introduce yourself in several ways:


1)Ja se zovem Ana. / Zovem se Ana. (I am called Ana.)
2)Ja sam Ana. (I am Ana.)
3)Moje ime je Ana. / Ime mi je Ana. (My name is Ana.)

You may ask someone to introduce himself:


1)Kako se ti zove? (How are you called?)
2)Kako je tvoje ime? (What is your name?)
3)Kako se Vi zovete?
4)Kako je Vae ime? (The same meaning as 1) and 2), only you will use 3) and 4) as expression of respect T-V distinction)

After introduction:
1)Drago mi je. (Nice to meet you. / I am glad.)

Greetings when you are entering the room:


1)Zdravo. (Hi.)
2)ao. (Ciao.)
3)Dobar dan. / Dobro jutro. / Dobro vee. (Good afternoon. / Good morning. / Good evening. more formal

Greetings when you are leaving the room:
