HOW TO START AN APPLICATION?
Click START button. Point to PROGRAM. Point to the icon of the application you want to start and click. WHAT IS A FILE? A name of file is composed of FILENAME.EXT. Can contain up to 255 characters including spaces; the EXT is up to 3 characters without spaces. They cannot contain any of the following characters: \ / : * ? < > | HOW TO CREATE A FOLDER? In MY COMPUTER or WINDOWS EXPLORER, open the folder in which you want to create a new folder. Locate the LOCAL DRIVE you wish to place your FOLDER. On the FILE menu, point to NEW, and then click FOLDER. The new folder appears with a temporary name. (e.g. NEW FOLDER, NEW FOLDER 1 and so on..) Type a name for the new folder, and then press ENTER. HOW TO RENAME A FILE OR A FOLDER? In MY COMPUTER or WINDOWS EXPLORER, click the file or folder you want to rename. You do not need to open it. Locate the LOCAL DRIVE where your FOLDER was placed. On the FILE menu, click Rename. Or click the FOLDER, right click, on the pop- menu, click RENAME. Type the name, then press ENTER. HOW TO COPY A FILE OR A FOLDER? In MY COMPUTER or WINDOWS EXPLORER, click the file or folder you want to copy. Locate the LOCAL DRIVE where your FILE or FOLDER was placed. On the EDIT menu, click COPY. Or click the FILE or FOLDER; right click, on the pop-up, click COPY. Open the folder or disk where you want to put the copy. On the EDIT menu, click PASTE. Or right click, on the pop-up menu, click PASTE. HOW TO MOVE A FILE or FOLDER? In MY COMPUTER or WINDOWS EXPLORER, click the file or folder you want to move. On the EDIT menu, click CUT. Or click the FILE or FOLDER; right click, on the pop-up, click CUT. Open the folder where you want to put the file or folder. On the EDIT menu, click PASTE. Or right click, on the pop-up menu, click PASTE. Tips:
Non-contagious = CTRL key + the item you want. Contagious = Click the first item you want, then press SHIFT, click the last item you want. HOW TO DELETE A FILE OR A FOLDER? In MY COMPUTER or WINDOWS EXPLORER, locate the file or folder you want to delete. Click the file or folder. On the FILE menu, click DELETE. Or click the FILE or FOLDER, right click, one the pop-up menu, click DELETE. Or click the FILE or FOLDER, Press the DELETE KEY in the keyboard. Tips:
If you want to retrieve a file you have deleted, look in the RECYCLE BIN. Your deleted file remains in the RECYCLE BIN until you empty it. WHAT IS THE TOOLBAR? Contains buttons that you select with the mouse to perform common tasks. HOW TO CHANGE PAPER SIZE, MARGINS, and ORIENTATION? On the FILE menu, click PAGE SETUP. HOW TO CHANGE FONT, FONT STYLE, FONT SIZE, FONT COLOR Etc? Select the text you want to change. On the FORMAT Menu, Click FONT. HOW TO CHANGE LINE SPACING, INDENTION, PARAGRAPH ALIGNMENT, Etc? HOW TO PREVIEW YOUR DOCUMENT? To display each page, as it will look when printed, click FILE, PRINT PREVIEW or click PRINT PREVIEW button in the STANDARD TOOLBAR. HOW TO PRINT A DOCUMENT? You can print the active document by clicking FILE, PRINT or clicking the print button in the STANDARD TOOLBAR. HOW TO WORK WITH MICROSOFT WORD IN SHORT CUT KEYS?
