Perspective and Background on
Folk Music

Criminal Justice and Public Order Act
Has appreciation for both Folk and popular music
The title of the Third movement of Asyla, Ecstasio, was
intended to evoke a rave scene in London at the time

Ecstasio
Repeats the first theme 8x , with the 9
th
repetition being interrupted
by a melody in the trombone voice
For the second theme, all strings are playing unison, outlining a D
Maj triad. This is repeated 4 times and is then interrupted by a 2/6
measure
Percussion voices set up the idea of 32 and 64 repetitions, an
interruption, then the entire idea repeats.
Similar to composers such as Bartok, Ades used elements of other
musical genres and put them into this work
