ITC Green Centre is one of the 11 buildings in the world to earn the elite LEED platinum deignation
DESIGN
High ceilings
Affects the inside temperature and air quality, reducing use of airconditioners
WATER
100% of the rainwater that falls on the building harvested interlocking tiles designed 100% of all the water recycled including waste water through its sewage treatment plant Hosting of indigenous plants which require very little water Waterless urinals Sewage treatment facility uses Fluidised Aerobic Bioreactors reduce the space necessary for the facility, power and operating costs
ENERGY
Natural light during daytime -business concluded by sundown -very little energy to light the building at night The high albedo roof coating reflects visible and infra red radiations- reduces the roof surface temperature by 30 degrees and air conditioning usage in the top floor by 10-15% 250mm thick walls, double glazed windows and high performance glass reduce entry of solar heat by more than 65%. Sun used efficiently for all hot water needs- saved approximately 30,000 kilowatts per hour in 2008-09 Air conditioning is Chloro Fluro Carbon (CFC) free
AIR QUALITY
designated smoking zones in convenient locations with their own exhaust fans Open-able windows in 90% of all regularly occupied areas an external air-economizer draws in 100% fresh air into the building. the CO2 monitoring system maintains carbon dioxide levels based on the number of occupants and the conditions outdoors.
reduce, reuse and recycle over 40% of the materials used in construction available within 800 kilometers of the building site- cost effective and easy renewal Carpets made from 100% recycled yarn Storage bins on every floor for recyclable materials like paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and metals
GREEN DESIGN Design and construction practices that significantly reduce or eliminate the negative impact of buildings on the environment and occupants. Broadly classified in five areas: Energy efficiency and renewable energy Indoor environmental quality Conservation of materials and resources Safeguarding water and water efficiency Sustainable site planning Navigating towards a low carbon economy 25 % energy in ITC Hotels is derived from renewable energy: wind ,solar hot water spv ,solar concentrator
A unique initiative, WelcomEnviron is ITC Hotels vision for a greener world with the guiding principle of 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle'. Each hotel has its own programme, encompassing local participation, creating awareness among employees and focuses on conservation of resources through energy-saving tools, environment-friendly material and other best green practices. Carbon Positive for the 8th year in a row
AIR The quality of air in our hotels is as fresh as the air in the lower Himalayan region.
Water We treat & recycle enough water capable of irrigating 65,000 trees, which aids in sequestering approximately 13,000 tonnes of CO2.
Energy We generate enough green energy through self-owned wind farms capable of lighting up the entire Delhi - Mumbai Highway.
Material 40% of our edible ingredients are procured locally, thus promoting sustainability & reducing carbon footprint.

Studies conducted by (IHEI 1996) reveals that 90% of guests preferred to stay in green hotels. This behavior can be accrued to factors like social pressure, knowledge & an opportunity to behave in an eco-friendly way
Employees(notes can be made by individual and presented verbally in class instead of reading from slide) -Executives trained under Mr Niranjan Khatri gained a wonderful insight into India and its people, peppered with great examples of leadership
Suppliers(notes can be made by individual and presented verbally in class instead of reading from slide) -Whole supply chain model has been corrected to attain cleaner, eco-friendly production process, e.g. Carrier airconditioning and Refrigeration customized their product to meet energy efficiency need of ITC(power saving, low maintenance, reliable)
Guys do the graph thing (Namrata), and do add the lines ITC Green Centre uses half as much energy as conventional buildings and energy savings means that it will pay back its additional up-front cost in only SIX years
If all new buildings were designed to the same standards as the ITC Green Centre is , we could eventually cut global energy use and greenhouse pollution by more than 20%, and save money at the same time
Format as per your wish Remove what all you think is unnecessary I would suggest that we minimize the text and use as much SmartArt/visuals as we can..what all I have written in slides could be converted into notes and may be consulted to while presenting the slides
