INTRODUCTION
National Fertilizers Limited, Vijaipur unit is one of the four units of M/S National Fertilizers Limited, a Government of India undertaking with its corporate office at New Delhi, The other units are located at Nangal and Bhatinda in Punjab ant at Panipat in Haryana The Vijaipur Plant was a landmark achievement in project management in India. The plant was completed well within time and approved project cost. In recognition of this achievement, the project was awarded the First Prize on Excellence in Project Management by Govt. of India.

RAW MATERIAL USED


1.AMMONIA(NH3) 2.CARBON DI-OXIDE(CO2) Urea production consists of main two reactions. 1. Formation of ammonium carbamate 2. Dehydration of ammonium carbamate to produce molten urea.

DESCRIPTION OF PLANT LAYOUT 1.Ammonia Pumping

Motor rotates at 1400 RPM 3 Tandem Valve Reciprocating Pump is used in Ammonia Pumping. Inlet Pressure 20 ata Outlet Pressure 231 ata For Cooling of Gear Box Oil is used and for cooling of that Oil water is used Torque Convertor is used to transfer rotating power from a prime mover.

2.Carbon di-Oxide Compression

Impulse Reaction Turbine(Steam Turbine) is used to drive the compressor Temperature of steam is 350 degree celsius Pressure of steam is 40 atmp In Impulse inlet is KE In Reaction inlet is KE+PE 15 Stages 16 BLADES ROTOR is used Rotates at 8300 RPM In Steam Turbine RANKINE Cycle is used A Condensor is used to condensed steam which is used in steam turbine Bearings is used to absorb shocks

In shut down operation rotor is washed by sand blasting method Impulse reaction turbine is connected to a low pressure compressor Low Pressure Compressor Rotates at 8300 RPM Which in turn connected to a Gear box Gear Box Gear box of gear ratio 1.452 is used which in turn connected to a High pressure compressor High Pressure Compressor Rotates at 11400 RPM And thus the Carbon di-oxide is compressed And it will goes to Urea synthesis tower

3.Urea Synthesis Tower


In Urea synthesis tower Co2 and NH3 reacts to form Urea Carbamate. -Lined with film of oxides to protect form corrosion -Plug flow operation take places and molten urea is removed from the top of the tower Inlet temperature is 190 degree celsius outlet temperature is 172 degree celsius Concentration of urea is 32%

4.Distillation tower and Flash drum


Ammonium carbamate passes through stripper tubes in the form of liquid film from the top,while excess ammonia liberated in the stripper carries out the stripping action. FERRULES 1677 ferrules are used in stripper with four hole of 3.1 mm on each ferrule The holes of Ferrule is designed in such a way that the solution passes through it goes in a clockwise direction Inlet temp of solution is 190-195 degree celsius Outlet temp of solution is 200-207 ata Concentration of urea in stripper is 57%

5.Prilling Tower

Height is 104 meter Prilling Tower is a dryer where the molten slurry is passed from top of the tower into a bucket which rotates and sprinkles the slurry and air is passed from the bottom. All the moisture is removed as the urea form into granules during it journey to the bottom of the tower. These granules are sent by conveyor to the bagging section PRILLING BUCKET Inlet Temp:145-150 degree celsius Rotates at 3300 RPM Outlet Temp is 45-51 degree celsius

Advantage 1. Natural cooling 2.Dust is removed

Scraper Rotating prill tower scrapers are used at the bottom of a prill tower to sweep the crystallised prills on to a conveyor belt The scrapers consist of a central drive under the prilling floor and 2 arms.

After formation of Urea it is send directly to railway wagons through HEAT RESISTANT BELT.
In case of any problem in wagons there are 2 big silos of urea in which they stored it so that the production flow is maintained.
