An injury to living tissue caused by a cut, blow, or other impact, typically one in which the skin is cut or broken.

Proper cleansing of wound and the administration of a prescribed antibiotics

Prevent hemorrhage Maintain skin integrity Promote wound healing Prevent dehiscence ( evisceration )

Wash hands thoroughly Put on gloves Clean the wound with an antiseptic agent- may remove debris and allow skin to dry. Apply antibiotic cream/ ointment inside the dressing- dressing must be larger than the area. Secure wound dressing with hypoallergenic tape. You may protect it with a waterproof material. Examine the wound frequently Check if there is numbness, tingling sensation, take note for paralysis. Document the care.
