Zero Conditional: certainty


We use the zero conditional when the result of the condition is always true.

Something to Remember
This kind of contitional is called Factual or Real conditional. We use it When we want to talk about:

FACTS

If you always tell a lie, nobody believes you.

General truths

If there is not oxygen, living things die.

Habit

If I eat chiken grill, I dont eat french fries

Common events

If it rains too much, there is an avalanche here.

Zero conditional If you freeze water, it turns into ice.

Note! Most zero conditional sentences mean the same thing if "when" is used instead of "if"

TAG QUESTIONS
A tag question is a short question added to the end of a positive or negative statement.
He is, isn't he?

He does,

doesn't he?

He will, He can,

won't he? can't he?

How are they formed?


1. If the auxiliary verb in the sentence is positive, the tag is negative. You are Spanish, aren't you?

2. If the auxiliary verb in the sentence is negative, the tag is positive. You're not Spanish, are you?

3. If there is no auxiliary verb in the sentence, we use do. You live in Japan, don't you?
