What season is this when the wheat fields are ripe with grain? What is the weather like?

Farming in Israel.
When the Israelites settled in Canaan after leaving their life of slavery in Egypt, farming became a more important way of making a living for them. Grains, such as wheat and barley, were used for making bread, and were the most important crop. Grains, as well as lentils and peas, are known to have been cultivated in Palestine since prehistoric times. Unlike farmers in Egypt and Mesopotamia, Israelite farmers did not need to depend on irrigation for water. Even though the rainy season in Palestine was rather short and the soil was often rocky, the farmers' know-how in clearing and fertilizing the land usually produced fine crops. The Israelite farmers learned how to grow crops according to the yearly cycle of rainy and dry spells. They also learned to adjust the crops to what was best for the different kinds of land: fertile plains, rocky hills, and semibarren areas. As time went on, their knowledge as farmers helped them to grow fruits, including melons, figs, dates, grapes, and olives.

Hundreds of ultraorthodox Jews have clashed with police in Jerusalem for a third consecutive Saturday over a car park which opens on the Sabbath.

Many ultra-Orthodox Jews fear the car park opening will lead to shops trading on the Sabbath

Sabbath today in Israel

According to Jewish law, the operation of a motor vehicle constitutes multiple violations of the prohibited activities on Shabbat. Though Jewish law is based on texts that existed long before the existence of the automobile, various writings prohibit during Shabbat the actions that take place as a result of driving. The Torah thus prohibits driving on the basis that a labour is being performed by the act of operating a motor vehicle. The vehicle's ignition combusts fuel, which by some is considered to violate one of the 39 prohibited activities on Shabbat, as well as creating a spark, which is likewise considered to violate a related rabbinic prohibition. ("Igniting a fire"). Isaiah 58:13-14 speaks out against travel during Shabbat[citation needed]. Modern vehicles also have many other electrical components, such as lights, that are continually turned on and off during the course of a vehicle's operation, often without the driver's awareness. Besides, the laws of Shabbat place limits on the distance one may travel beyond the city/town where one is spending Shabbat, regardless of the method of transportation.
However, Jews of varying backgrounds have taken differing views on the matter, either finding various interpretations to permit and justify at least some driving on Shabbat, either solely for synagogue attendance or for other personal reasons as well, or else by disregarding the Jewish laws altogether. Some feel that driving involves less effort than walking. Others feel that those who live too far from a synagogue would be cut off from religious life altogether if they do not drive to reach the synagogue, and the benefits outweigh full Shabbat observance.

"But how terrible for you who are rich now; you have had your easy life! How terrible for you who are full now; you will go hungry! "How terrible for you who laugh now; you will mourn and weep! How terrible when all people speak well of you; their ancestors said the very same things about the false prophets

Be glad when that happens and dance for joy, because a great reward is kept for you in heaven. For their ancestors did the very same things to the prophets. (Lk 6:27)

Culture of the Kingdom of God vs culture of the world

Your enemies those who hate you, who curse you, and who mistreat you. If anyone hits you on one cheek,; if someone takes your coat,. who asks you for something, and when someone takes what is yours,. Do for others just what you want them to do for you. "If you love only the people who love you, why should you receive a blessing?

What incidents happen to show Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath Scenario : You are asked to do a part-time waiters job in Shangri-la Hotel on Sunday. The overtime pay is 3x the usual rate! Would you take up the job and why? Scenario: Your parents asked you to look after your sick grandmother on Sunday. Would you? Why? What is our motivation for doing the work on Sunday? What sort of work can we do on Sunday and still please God?

The Faith of the Centurion (7:1-10)

Sir, dont trouble yourself. I do not deserve to have you come into my house;Just give the order, and my servant will get well.

Why was his faith great?(7:1-10)

He recognised the power of Jesus in the invisible world. Just issue the command & the invisible power will obey. Contrast it with The disciples waking Jesus in the storm(8:25) The people of Nazareth (Mark 6:6)

A strange question: Are you the one John said was going to come, or should we expect someone else? Four possible reasons: 1. Time for Jesus to reveal Himself 2. To satisfy his own disciples 3. Is Jesus the same person he baptised? 4. Tried by imprisonment, he doubted
Jesus replied (v22) about the things they ought to look for in the Messiah. This passage is a Messianic prophecy. Jesus exhibits proofs of its fulfillment in Him. To the Baptist in prison these signs would be particularly helpful, far more than a declaration from our Lord. Nothing would help him like facts. (Marshall pg83)
