Standup Timer
Standup Timer is an Android application that acts as a simple, stand-up meeting stop watch. It can be used to ensure your stand-up meeting finishes on time, and gives all the participants an equal share of time to state their progress. You can learn how to use the timer functionality by reading the source code. Also this apps has clear distinction between view, model etc and has lot of util methods which we can reuse in our app. 1. Video & Audio) - This is an application that you activate before you might get into an emergency situation (i.e. before walking alone through a tunnel). Then you have to press a button (or a finger on the screen...) and as soon as you lift the finger from that button/screen, the device will send an emergency call to a friend/the police and send the current position, sound and video to another device or to an internet portal.
- This application would be started every time there is an incoming call. If another android user is calling, then the other phone could transfer the current position (or situation, like "at work" or "at home",...) to the phone being called. That way, the incoming call could be announced as "Girlfriend calling from work".
5) Handset Theft Monitoring - This application sends the GPS-position of the device up to an internet portal. The last 2/4/6/24 hours are recorded. In case of a theft of the device, you can view where it was stolen and where the device is/was.
6) 24h tracking
- This application would track your positions constantly and save them on a well secured webpage. That way you can later go back to a specific day and find out where you were or view the pictures you took that day and follow the street where you took them. You could add text to certain time stamps or locations and keep a "log" of your life.
P1: Android and Multi-Hop Cellular Networks. P2: and Android Platform Evaluation. PROJECT 1: MCNs are wireless networks where cellular connectivity is augmented by client-to-client forwarding. The goal in MCNs is to provide service with as little traffic as possible on the cellular channel, in order to increase the number of users that can use the same cellular infrastructure. We propose to implement two of our previously published routing techniques that are suitable for MCNs: Cloud Routing[1] and SISR[2]. Cloud Routing enables reliable multihop forwarding in ad-hoc networks that are characterized by high client mobility and low connectivity. Instead of delivering data through a high cost flood, Cloud Routing takes a different approach in that only small set, or cloud, of data copies is forwarded toward the destination. The progress of the traffic cloud is coordinated with the help of data progress notifications exchanged over an end-to-end control channel, such as a cellular network. The advantage of Cloud Routing for cellular networks is that end-to-end data service can be provided with a much lower load on the cellular infrastructure. Therefore, instead of forwarding data, the infrastructure only needs to carry control traffic required to coordinate opportunistic forwarding. PROJECT 2: As an open-source platform for mobile applications, Android provides an ideal platform for the implementation and evaluation of wireless research protocols on end-user mobile devices. We would like to profile and better understand the energy characteristics of communication in a 3G network using the software APIs of Android. Depending on the energy consumption characteristics of using a 3G cellular network vis-a-vis a conventional WiFi network, we would like to evaluate the utility of using one network over the other based on the application requirements. For applications that transmit a small number of keep-alive messages to stay connected, an always on 3G network might be more efficient; while for bandwidth intensive applications such as video streaming, a WiFi network may be more appropriate. We plan to explore whether this transition from one network to the other can be seamlessly achieved on a mobile platform using sophisticated algorithms.
