Can I graduate on time? Yes! We designed the BBA International Programs as an integrated option for UTs business curriculum. With good planning, students with even the tightest of degree plans have been able to study abroad (some for even two semesters) without delaying their graduation. I receive scholarships/loans to attend UT. Can I use them to study abroad? Yes! Students keep their eligibility for loans and/or scholarships because they remain registered at UT. Also, basic costs abroad (tuition, books, food, housing, airfare, and insurance) are used to adjust, if necessary, your financial need for that period. Specific study abroad scholarships/fellowships are also available. Opportunities vary by geographic location, and awards start from $500 up to full funding for the semester abroad. To learn more, contact us! I would like to develop language skills, but its not part of my business degree. Can I do it? Absolutely! Consider studying abroad to take advantage of courses and opportunities that UT doesnt offer. Many students use this option to achieve personal and professional goals and to develop specialized skills that enhance their business major. When do students go abroad? Students can begin exploring as soon as they sense an interest, but which semester varies with an individual students goals and preparation. Students can study abroad as soon as the summer after freshman year with our partner in Mexico; many students go during the junior year; others prefer to go as late as their final semester at UT. When should I apply? March 1 is the priority deadline for the summer, fall and the following spring semester. There is a later rolling application process for spring programs with spaces still available. Summer deadlines vary according to program. How do I learn more? Visit http://new.mccombs.utexas.edu/bba/ip or stop by the Undergraduate Programs Office (CBA 2.400) to find printed information and flyers on all of our programs. Interactive, question-and-answer style info sessions are offered during the semester. Times are posted on the Web site.
How do I make an appointment? Students may schedule a study abroad advising appointment after attending an information session where they learn the basics. To make an appointment, call 471-0690 or drop by the Undergraduate Programs Office, CBA 2.400. The peer advisors at the front can help you find a time that fits in your schedule. What will we discuss in an appointment? You! An appointment with an exchange coordinator offers you individualized attention to best consider your range of study abroad options in terms of your particular goals, interests, options, and preparation. Course planning for before, during, and after study abroad helps students maximize the flexibility in their degree plans. Who are the International Programs Coordinators? They are Leah Miller, Josh Rucker and Claudia Prieto. You can find them in the Undergraduate Programs Office, CBA 2.400. For more information, you can also send an email to [email protected]. Are there opportunities outside the BBA International Programs? Yes! To find these opportunities, visit the UT Study Abroad Office, located on 24th Street in WOH 2nd floor. It serves the whole university community with a wide set of offerings as well as information on non-UT programs. Their excellent Web site contains a lot of valuable information, including scholarships and funding options. http://www.utexas.edu/student/abroad Can I meet other business students who have studied abroad? Yes! Business Students Abroad (BSA) is a student organization designed to help you network. BSA organizes a variety of fun events that include visiting different sites in Austin, attending festivals, camping, hiking, and volunteering. Its purpose is to give foreign exchange students and UT students the chance to interact. To learn more, check out their Facebook group: UT BSA You can also get connected with BBA International Programs to learn about events, interact with returning study abroad students, read travel blogs from abroad, or view our study abroad photo gallery.
