It is very easy to understand the lyrics of the song Strangers In The Night by Frank Sinatra.
English is very clear in the song. We can hear some pronunciation differences from British English such as the words lonely,lower,stranger and been which are pronounced /lonli / , /lor /, /strendr /and /bn/ ,but /lnli/ , / l(r)/ , / strend(r)/ and /bin/. In the song Mona Lisa, Nat King Cole pronounces the word strangeness in a different way . He says /strenzns/ instead of/strendns/. I think he has a slight accent as black people do in the South of America. In the song Unforgettable he pronounces or like are in though near or far. I listened the song sung by different singers. I liked it best when I listened to it from ex Supertramp Roger Hodgson and it is the easiest to understand. We can hear examples of rhymes such as oh joyfully, oh playfully logical, oh responsible, practical. oh clinical, oh intellectual the lyrics are very meaningful. They explain very well how things are happening nowadays in terms of new generation. In the song Material Girl ,cant is pronounced /knt/ that is /knt/ in BrE and romance is said / romns/ which is /rmns/ in BrE. Madonna says the word material like this /mteril/,but it is /mtril/. In the song When the Going Gets Tough we can the words that are used in spoken English such as wanna, gonna and gotta. Bill ocean pronounces the word fashion / fan/,but that is / fn/. I cannot say it is very easy to understant. When someone who is black sings a song or says something , it is a little harder to understand them than the others.
