n Resource Management is designed to teach participants the skills that they need to seize new opportunities and to adapt quickly to shifting conditions. Through intensive discussions with like-minded classmates and expert faculty members, participants learn how to implement organizational change in order to give their companies the advantage in the global business arena. For each case, participants analyze the business strategy involved, evaluate the relationship of organizational and HR practices to corporate strategy, develop a change plan, and examine the role of the HR function in this process. Specifically, participants will improve their capacity to:
Define organizational effectiveness: What is it? How does one diagnose it? Understand the benefits of increased organizational and managerial effectiveness; Balance the pressures for speed and lower cost with quality and optimal performance; Align the HR function to the business unit and the corporate strategy; Determine and manage the strategic role of the HR function within the organization; Build organizational structures and systems for national and multinational organizations; Understand the relationship between leadership and organizational culture; Develop the organizational capabilities of coordination, commitment, and competence; and Establish corporate values that shape a high-performance organization.
