9 Preparations
9.1.

Setting Up the PC
Windows 95/98/98SE Pentium 100 MHz or better (recommended) 8 MB or more (recommended) 200 MB or larger free space 1 PCI-Bus or ISA-Bus slot required for GPIB board. 1 PCI-Bus slot required for AD board. Secondary connector used (for Atapi drive)
9.1.1.
PC (DOS/V machine)
1. Confirm the empty slot of PC is PCI or ISA. The following GP-IB board is prepared by the slot.

- Connect the cable from secondary IDE connector on the PC for only DVD-RAM driver. - When there is no cable, connect the ATAPI internal cable (Flat cable 40 pin) to the secondary IDE connector. (Be careful of connecting direction.) Caution : Set the time of PC correctly once at one week interval. If not correct the time, it can not be set the serial number. 2. Turn off the PC. 3. Confirm the switch setting of the GP-IB board. For PCI slot Install the board with a setup at the time of purchase.
For ISA slot Install the board with a setup at the time of purchase.
9.1.2.
1. Turn off the PC. 2. Change the input range setting of AD board from unipolar 0 to 5V.
4. install the GP-IB controller board to the slot of PC. 5. PC is turned ON and Windows is started. 6. When it is added the PCI board, install the device driver. a. Confirm the display of PCI Multi Media Device under the This wizard searched for new driver for. b. Click the Next > button. c. Select the menu Search for the best driver for your device, and then click the Next > button. d. Insert the CD-ROM (API-PAC (W32)). *It is accessory of AD conversion board. e. Installation of the program 1. Insert the adjustment and inspection software floppy disc in FDD. Input A: and press the [Enter] key. 2. Input INSTALL.BAT in the state of A:\>, and then install automatically. In case of new install, restart after display Please ReBoot. In case of overwrite install, press the Enter key after display Successful. 3. After the installation of adjustment and inspection software, set the GP-IB board. When it is displayed C:\>, press the Enter key after input MGPIB. It is displayed [0. ISA, 1. PCI]. And then press the Enter key after input the number of GP-IB board added on.
1. Confirm of the firmware of digital oscilloscope. a. Press the [Utility] key. b. Press the [X6] key. c. Confirm the version V*.** displayed in the center of the screen. d. If version is V3.22 or earlier, the newest firmware is download from a home page. e. Press the [Menu OFF] key. 2. Setup of the language a. Press the [Utility] key. b. Press the [X2] key. c. Press the [Y1] key at several time until the language to be used. d. Press the [Y2] key beside the language to be used. e. Press the [Menu OFF] key. 3. Setup of the GPIB Address. a. Press the [Utility] key. b. Press the [X1] key several times until [I/O] is chosen. c. Press the [X2] key, and then the [Y5] key. d. Use dial (A) to set [Talk/Listen Address] to [4]. e. Press the [Menu OFF] key.

Self proofreading
It proofreads once at one week. 1. Self proofreading procedure of digital oscilloscope. a. Left 30 minutes or more after a power supply injection of the digital oscilloscope. b. Remove the all things connected to the input connector. c. Press the [Utility] key. d. Press the [X1] key several times until [Cal] is chosen. e. Press the [Y1] key, then start proofreading. f. It completes in several minutes. g. Press the [Menu OFF] key.

Maintenance
When exchange the power sensor cartridge, be sure to perform self proofreading. It proofreads once at one month. Self proofreading procedure 1. 9.4.4.
Counter P.C.B.
This P.C.B. is installed on the back of the pin board. Connecting of the connector 1. Connect the connector 2 pin to CN1. 2. Connect the connector 4 pin to CN3. 3. Connect the serial I/F cable (RFKZ0243) 3 pin to CN2.
Caution : The secondary connector on the PC is beside primary connector which connected to the hard disc of inside of the PC. Be sure to connect the flat cable to it. In addition, do not set the flat cable to CN3 connector. If connected in wrong manner, the drive not only occured action abnormality, but also cause to break down.
9.4.3.
This P.C.B. is installed on the side of the pin board. Connecting of the connector 1. Connect the connector 2 pin to CN1. 2. Connect the connector 3 pin to CN2. 3. Connect the oscilloscope with probe to TP1 and TP2 terminals.

This P.C.B. is installed on the back of the pin board. Connecting of the connector 1. Connect the power connector to CN4. 2. Connect connector 10 line to CN2. 3. Connect connector 3 line to CN7. 4. Connect one side of the parallel I/F cable (RFKZ0221) to CN1. Setting of switches 1. Set all of the switch power of SW2 on the board OFF.

Surface of the pin board Caution : Do not mistake the flat cable connected to the AD conversion board for flat cable from secondary on PC. 6. The tray opens automatically, set the disc on the disc tray. 7. After the distinction signal of disc is recorded then, the tray opens automatically. 8. Confirm the results (OK/NG). 9. Press [F10] key to complete. Notes: 1. Be sure record by normal drive. 2. The disc for record should use a new one.
5. If LM-RS47L selected, checking of initialization will be displayed. Press[0] to execute initialization, press[1] to return the select screen. 6. If X3RAM-01 selected, checking of initialization will be displayed similarly.
If [1] is pressed, then return the select screen, press [0] to go to step next screen. 7. If [0] is pressed, the tray opens automatically. Be sure to set new X3RAM-01 test disc and then press [Enter] key. The checking of initialization will be executed automatically. 8. The tray opens automatically. 9. Remove the test disc. Notes: a. Once initialized, the disc can never be de-initialized. b. Use the disc which is set by above operation to fixing to the PC.

It is displayed the condition of disc when error is occurred. Disc diameter The presence or absence of the cartridge The presence or absence of the cartridge is opened or not (The history which the disc is removed from the cartridge) Note: When it is displayed non-Cartridge Type or Cartridge Open, it may be a dust (finger print) and scratched. When the drive can not show the problem again, ask the customer to confirm the disc.

Press the [F1] key. 5. Check the display of resion code. Press the [F1] key. 6. Confirm the serial number is diplayed. Note: Confirm the serial number is composed of different number. (example: If all values are 0, it is abnormality.) 7. Check the inquiry (vender ID, product ID and firmware version). Press the [F1] key. 8. Press the [F10] key to complete. Note: When This program is finished, last error history is changed to this time.
4. Press the [ESC] key, display shows the last error history in the last servicing. (This data is not error coded at this time.) Note: This display will be shown only when data exists for the last servicing. 24
16 Cheking Symptoms
Checking symptoms can be performed from any inspection. When fault media can be specified from user information or last error information, inspect from the specified media. It recommends inspecting from 4.7 GB DVD-R as the following procedures in the case of others. Note : If read drive executed during cheking symptoms, the last count will be erased and symptoms is recheck as needed. Note: The discs write protect tab should be set to OFF (Write enabled). 5. Press the [F1] key. 6. The cheking test will be executed automatically. 7. The tray opens automatically. 8. Check the inspection results. Remove the test disc. 9. Press the [Enter] key.

18 Completing Inspection
Caution : If write data which saved in the EEROM using by EEPROM software for DUTY. Be sure to performed adjustment for LPC and servo signal also setting for completing inspection. 1. Select [5SET55.DAT] with cursor and press the [Enter] key. 2. Press the [F1] key. By the adjustment and inspection before, it distinguishes automatically and classify into three kinds as follows: a. If there are run short of adjustment and inspection items , the testing software name is displayed. 11. Press the [F1] key. 12. The adjustment will be executed automatically. 13. The tray opens automatically. Remove the Power sensor Cartridge. 14. Press the [F10] key to complete.
3. The tray opens automatically, set the test disc (TDR-820A), press the [F1], and then the adjustment will be executed automatically. 4. After adjustment, the tray opens automatically. 5. Remove the clamper A from the clamp arm. Next, the back york, clamp magnet and clamper B.
3. Extend the tabs in the direction of arrows and take off the upper plate.
4. Remove the clamping spring from the tab and remove the clamp arm.

2. Extend the front cover to outside and take it off from the RAM-DRIVE.
4. Other side is done as above 1-3. 5. When assembling the slide arm, be confirmed that the protrusion of slide arm is put in the groove of RAM-DRIVE and put down the tray cover and fitting it.

4. Remove the spring from the tab and hook it up with alignment pin hook.
5. Move the alignment pin in the direction of arrow and remove the alignment pin from the tray with lifting side of the pin. 3. Slide the opener in the direction of arrow to the end and remove the opener from the tray assy. Push the tab to inside and remove the opener roller.

2. Put up the connector lock of optical pick-up and pull out the FFC.

2. Unscrew the 2 screws (C) on the back of the traverse chassis and remove the stepping motor.
4. Remove the sheet on the midst FFC from the hook and release it.

21.8. DD plate
1. Unscrew the 3 screws (D) and remove the DD plate. 2. Remove the adjustment holder B. Next, pull out the guide shaft and remove the optical pick-up assy.
Caution: When assembling the optical pick-up assy, be sure to put in the concavity of the optical pick-up into the guide shaft. When inserting the guide shaft, use guide shaft the weight (to aviod guide damaged). When assmbling adjustment holder B, be confirmed that installation is at left side for tip of holder from spindle motor and the part of hook is hooked firmly into the hole of traverse base. When remove the adjustment holder B if it is transformed restore as follows: 1, Make the shape of the transformed adjustment into the 39

Caution: Before assembling the middle chassis, be sure to put in the boss to the groove.

1. Remove the belt from pulley gear and motor pulley.
4. Extend the tabs on the back of mecha chassis to outside and remove the loading motor.
2. Extend the tabs on the back of the mecha chassis to outside and push out the shaft of pulley gear and then remove it.
