MASTERTOP 1110

Water Dispersed Epoxy Floor and Wall Coating Description MASTERTOP 1110 is a two component, solvent free, water dispersed epoxy coating. It provides a protective coating which is impermeable to liquids, abrasion resistant and easy to clean. As MASTERTOP 1110 is water based it may be applied to damp substrates. Uses Applications include : Industrial and warehouse floors subject to light traffic Oil resistant coating for bunded areas Parking areas Wall coating in the food and other industries requiring high hygiene standards Stairways and corridors Machinery plinths Advantages Solvent free - non flammable and low odour Oil resistant - suitable for bunds, parking areas Can be applied to a damp substrate Can be used as a curing agent - no need for other curing agents Good chemical resistance - resists de-icing salts, fuel, oil, petrol, alcohol and dilute alkalis Typical Properties Volume Solids Pot life Directions for use Surface preparation Substrate concrete must be sound, free of dust, dirt, grease, paint, plaster or other debris. Damaged areas must be repaired. Honeycombing or small cavities may be repaired using either cementitious or epoxy repair mortars. The use of vacuum recoverable shotblasting is recommended to provide a good key. It is advisable to pre-dampen the prepared concrete surface before proceeding to aid adhesion. Mixing Add resin (component A) to hardener (component B) and mix the two components thoroughly using a mixing paddle and slow speed drill, until a lump free homogeneous mixture is obtained. Mechanical mixing is essential. Application Apply the first coat onto the damp substrate by brush, roller or airless spray. A protective mask must be worn for spray application. Depending on the absorbency of the substrate the first coat may be diluted with up to 10% water by weight to help penetration into the floor. Do not apply the second coat (or the third if needed) until the previous coating is completely dry. Best results are obtained if subsequent applications are made 24 hours later. Do not apply MASTERTOP temperature is below +10C. 1110 if ambient

Surface finishes Where desired an anti-skid finish may be achieved by sprinkling MASTERTOP SRA NO. 1 or 3 onto the first coat while still wet. When the first coat as dried the second coat is applied encapsulating the sand grains. The degree of roughness will be determined by the amount and size of the sand applied. Uniformity of the finish will be dependant on the skill of the applicator. It is recommended that a trial panel is applied to ensure that all parties are satisfied with the finish. . Equipment Care Tools can be cleaned with soapy water.

Specification Clause The high build, water based epoxy coating shall be MASTERTOP 1110, two-component, water dispersed epoxy formulation. The product shall be of high-solids, not less then 65% by volume. The product shall be applied at 150 microns dry film thickness in two-three coats. The product shall exhibit adhesive bond strength to concrete of 1.5 Mpa minimum, when tested to ASTM D4541 test method.

Coverage Depends on the absorption characteristics of the substrate. When applied onto a low absorption and medium roughness surface, coverage shall be 3 m per kg in two coats. Conditions of the concrete surface can significantly affect consumption. Packaging MASTERTOP 1110 is supplied in 7Kg (5.6 litre) pack. Storage and Shelf life Store under cover, out of direct sunlight and protect from extremes of temperature. In tropical climates the product must be stored in an air-conditioned environment. Shelf life is 12 months when stored as above. Failure to comply with the recommended storage conditions may result in premature deterioration of the product or packaging. For specific storage advice please consult BASF's Technical Services Department. Safety precautions As with all chemical products, care should be taken during use and storage to avoid contact with eyes, mouth, skin and foodstuffs (which can also be tainted with vapour until product fully cured or dried). Treat splashes to eyes and skin immediately. If accidentally ingested, seek immediate medical attention. Keep away from children and animals. Reseal containers after use. Do not reuse containers for storage of consumable item. For further information refer to the material safety data sheet. MSDS available on demand or on BASF construction chemicals web site.
