At the start of the year 2020, a lockdown was announced as a precautionary

measure against the disease spreading rapidly at the time which was
covid-19. Initially people thought that the lockdown wasn’t going to be
here for long. However it stayed for much longer than anyone could have
predicted. Lives of the common people was disrupted. People had lost
hope and felt completely helpless. This magazine contains interviews of
some of my classmates and their experiences of the pandemic
Q. Lockdown had given us an unhealthy amount of leisure time. Most of us spent it
idling around. Do you guys mind sharing how you spent it?

Ritesh-Well, I really did try to study. However, the phone and television tempted me
and honestly it seemed more fun than studying most of the time. I just chatted the day
away with my friends on whatsapp and spent hours with them on phone calls.
I also tried to make small talk with my parents and I found out that they are actually
pretty nice and friendly! I hadn't really talked to them properly before. So it was nice to
bond with them.

Hrutu-I was actually really worried that my marks might dwindle after lockdown ends.
I spent a lot of studying and gathering any sort of extra knowledge I could. My parents
would show me different types of movies from the 90’s and I would mostly be laughing
as everything about the story was unusual to me.

Well to be honest I initially spent my time playing video games and watching
YouTube. However later on in the lockdown I took an interest in books. First I read
E-books and then later on when the disease wasn’t as serious, I ordered the books to
Home and then I spent most of my time reading them. My parents were mostly
working hard and were only free during the evening.
Q.How do you think the Lockdown affected your relationships?

Ritesh- I really don’t think lockdown affected any of my friendships. In fact I think it
Improved them. Neither me nor my friends really had much to do. We would just chat
and laugh about random topics. My bonds with my family also strengthened. They
would give me advice about my friendships and share their own funny experiences
and I would listen with complete focus and thoroughly enjoy their stories!

Hrutu-My friends don’t really contact me.I feel that my friend group is more focused
on studying rather than gossiping about stuff. My parents and my brother however are
more than enough. I chatted with them anytime I was free.
