Fudan University offers English-taught postgraduate programs for foreign students. According
to the degree type, there are academic and professional degree postgraduate education. The
academic degree postgraduate education focuses on cultivating academic innovation ability
through the two stages of course study and scientific research training, while the professional
degree postgraduate education focuses on improving practical application ability through the
two stages of course study and professional practice.
Length of Study
Master programs: two-three year academic degree, two-three year professional degree
Doctoral programs: three-four year doctoral degree

Requirement
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid ordinary passport, and be in good
health.
2. Bachelor’s degree or above for Master’s applicants; Master’s degree or above for Doctoral
applicants.
3. Language Requirements:
Application Period
★In Phase One, applicants can apply for Chinese Government Scholarship - High Level
Graduate Program and Silk Road Program, and Shanghai Government Scholarship. In Phase
Two, applicants can only apply for Chinese Government Scholarship - Silk Road Program.
How to Apply
Step 1: Online Application
Please register at https://istudent.fudan.edu.cn/apply, choose one program, fill in the application
form, upload required digital application documents listed below and complete online
application.
1. A valid ordinary passport
Photocopy of valid passport identification page. Passport must be an ordinary one and the
date of expiry should be later than September 30, 2025. Applicants currently residing in
China also need to provide a copy of the page containing a valid visa or residence permit.
2. Diploma of the highest degree conferred or proof of impending graduation (for applicants
in their final year of study)
The document must be original or notarized copy, and should be attached with notarized
Chinese or English translation if the original one is not in Chinese or English.
3. Transcripts of the highest degree conferred
The document must be original or a notarized copy, and should be attached with notarized
Chinese or English translation if the original one is not in Chinese or English.
4. Two recommendation letters
The referee must be a professor or an associate professor. The letter should be in
Chinese or English and include the referee’s hand-written signature.
You can upload recommendation letters by yourself or select "Send a link to the
recommender to fill in the recommendation letter" and the recommender can fill in
the letter of recommendation online.
5. Personal statement
It should be written in Chinese or English.
The content should include (but not limited to) your study and work experience,
academic achievement, expected research proposal, and career plan after
graduation, etc. No limit to the number of words.
6. Language certificate and score report (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, PTE, etc.)
7. Proof of No Criminal Record in Chinese or English
8. Proof of Financial Capacity or the Statement of Financial Support for International
Students of Fudan University;
Please download and fill in the Statement of Financial Support for International Students
from https://iso.fudan.edu.cn/isoenglish/wnlinewwpplication/list.htm.
9. Applicants who apply for the scholarships have to upload Foreigner Physical Examination
Form (in Chinese or English).
The form can be downloaded from https://iso.fudan.edu.cn/isoenglish/16202/list.htm, and should
be filled out in Chinese or English. The report is valid for six months.
Applicants currently residing in China may submit Residence Permit or Foreign
Permanent Resident ID Card in substitute for Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
10. Catalogue and abstract of published papers, award certificate or other documents that
prove your academic ability and personal qualities (not compulsory)
11. Any other supplementary documents required by school or department
Notes:
★ Whether the applicant has the nationality of People's Republic of China while having foreign nationality
shall be subject to the conclusion of the nationality determination made by the Exit-Entry Administration
Bureau. If the applicant is recognized as having the Chinese nationality after application or enrollment,
applicant’s application qualification, eligibility for admission or admission will be cancelled.
★ Each applicant may not apply for Fudan’s degree programs with overlapping study periods at the same time.
★ Please do not renew your passport after application is submitted without special reasons. Otherwise, the
information on the Visa Application Form (JW202 or JW201) will be inconsistent and it would affect your
visa application.
★ Please read the Attachment on Instructions on Filling in and Uploading Documents in the Online Application
System carefully before your application.
★ For application for a dual-degree English program set up by Fudan University in cooperation with other
foreign universities, please refer to related admission requirements for each program.
Registration Time
Late August or early September in 2025 (Specified in the Admission Notice)
Enrolled students have to register on time and the original Diploma would be checked by the
university at the same time. Students without original Diploma are not allowed to register,
therefore the admission will be cancelled as well.
According to the Regulations on Graduate Studies at Fudan University, students who have
obtained the academic status of Fudan University are not allowed to study for degrees in
other higher education institutions at the same time (except those who have joined the
degree program cooperated with Fudan University). If the above situation is found, the
student will be expelled from the university.
