STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
I, Parth Pravinbhai Patel, a dedicated and focused enthusiastic student from Gujarat, India.
I wish to express my strong interest in pursuing a Master of Science in Civil Engineering at
Lakehead University. My objective of achieving the upgradation in academic profile is very
much possible through the preferred educational entity of mine.my academic journey,
professional aspirations, and personal values align with the scope of learning the
Technicalities and opportunities offered by your esteemed institution has boosted my level of
motivation to be more engrossed in the process of my professional learnings

Educational Accomplishments
As part of my academic achievements, I scored 77% in 10th grade in March 2017 and the
milestone of 12th grade in March 2019 with 59%, both from the Gujarat Board. In July 2019,
I initiated with my Bachelors in the field of Civil Engineering from “Kadi Sarva
vidhyalaya”, where I graduated in April 2023 with a CGPA of 7.98. As part of my studies,
I searched deeply into various aspects of civil engineering, including structural analysis,
environmental engineering, and transportation engineering. My ambition is to become a
proficient civil engineer capable of contributing to sustainable infrastructure development.
The MSc in Civil Engineering program at Lakehead University is the most appropriate
platform for me, as a student to enhance my knowledge, acquire advanced skills, and engage
in research. I am particularly interested in exploring areas such as sustainable construction
practices, advanced materials, and structural health monitoring.

As part of my linguistic proficiency I have obtained the below given score in PTE:-

Being an Indian student my first and foremost choice was to complete my Bachelors from my
own country as India is home to some top-level institutes and universities with some top-
notch faculties. According to the latest census, the country’s population is on the top of the
list with a major chunk (1/4th) of it being the student population in every sector. Due to this
scenario, there is extreme competition among students to get seats in top universities, and that
led me to choose the program of Master of Science in Civil Engineering at Lakehead
University, Canada. The reason behind choosing Canada is because I had received quite good
reviews about it from my friends who have been there for studies. Canadians respect human
rights, equality, diversity, and a stable, peaceful society. International students benefit from
the same rights and freedoms that protect all Canadians. The country is known as the third
leading destination for international students with many top-level universities and colleges
offering qualitative professional education. The living cost is significantly lower in
comparison to the US, UK, Australia, and many European countries. Lakehead University
places strong importance on research, better facilities, and a diverse academic environment
for the students to grow holistically. It lays equal importance on research and practical
applications.

After acquiring the academic certification of a qualified civil engineer, I am
certain my talent will be better utilized for the development of my country. I wish to serve
my nation and upgrade the quality, designe and structural development of infrastructure of
my country
However, career growth varies from individual to individual depending on individual’s skills,
still India being the fastest growing economy has many opportunities to support me grow as
professional and with the help of the same I truly believe that I can start my professional
career as a Civil Engineers in India. A Civil Engineer can be appointed by government
departments, real estate societies, power plants, transportation, private and public sector
undertakings, consultancy firms, industries and buildings, housing and urban development. I
would be able to work with top companies hiring Civil engineers in India like RDS Projects
Ltd., CRM Engineering, RB Construction Company, Apex Tarmac Pvt. Ltd., Balaji
Railroad Limited, Jaypee Group, DLF, Hindustan Construction Company(HCC), GMR
Group, Punj Lloyd Group, SAIL, ONGC, Larsen and Toubro and Simplex Projects
Ltd. I can work as a Jr. Civil Engineer, structural engineer, Site Supervisor, Geotechnical
Engineer, Project Engineer, Construction Engineer or Manager, Jr. Project In-charge, etc.,
with an average pay scale of around INR 6-10Lacs per annum. With certain years of
experience, I would be able to get better positions and higher remuneration in any of these
companies, which will be counted as the best return on my investment in abroad studies.
