Chapter 12 Area Related to Circle

Solution

1. c. 19.6 cm
Explanation: Let diameter of the circle be cm.

Area =

2. c.
Explanation: Given: Length of arc + 2 Radius = 20 cm

cm

3. b.

Explanation:

Let the radii of three concentric circle inscribe in the bigger circle be and

in decreasing order of length of radius respectively.

Then according to the question,

……….(i)
Also

………..(ii)
And
……….(iii)
Putting the value of in eq. (ii), we get

Now, putting the value of in eq. (i), we get

,

cm or 17.32 m (approx)

4. c.

Then according to the question, ……….(i)
Now, Ratio of their perimeters =

Ratio of their perimeters = = =

Ratio of their perimeters =

5. d. 20cm
Explanation: Let diameter of the wheel be cm.

Given: Distance = 11 km = 1100000 cm

No. of Revolutions =
5000 =

d= 100000/5000
= 20 cm

6. Area of sector =
where = angle, r = radius of circle
Here, we have
= p and radius = R
Putting these in formula,
Area of sector =

7. Area grazed by the cow = (16)2

If the length of the rope is increased, area grazed by cow = (23)2

Hence, additional area grazed by cow

= (23)2 - (16)2

= 858 m2

8. Required area = area of the sector in which, r = 15 km

and = 72°

=141.3 km2.

9. We know that circumference of the circle .

Now, Area of circle = = 14 14 = 616 cm²

10. Given, Perimeter of semi-circular protactor = 72

Perimeter of a semi-circular protactor = Perimeter of semi-circle =

Area of protactor =
Area of semi-circular protactor = 308 cm2

11. Clearly, the diameter of the larger circle is 14 cm and the diameter of the smaller
circle is 7 cm.
So, the radius of the larger circle is 7 cm and that of the smaller circle is 3.5 cm.
Area of the shaded region,

= (38.5 + 28)cm2

= 66.5 cm2

12.

Radius of a circle
Required perimeter

AB2 = 22 + 22

AB2 = 8
AB = = m

Area of = 2m2
Again area of

Let s be the semi-perimeter of ABC. Then,

Let be the area of ABC. Then, by Heron's formula

= 336cm2
Let A1, A2 and A3 be the areas of sectors with sector angles A, B and C respectively and

sector radius r = 5 cm. Then,

A1 + A2 + A3 =

= 39.25 cm2
Let A be the area of the shaded region. Then,

A = Area of ABC - (A1 + A2 + A3) = (336 - 39.25) cm2 = 296.75 cm2

18.

Let x be the radius of the semi-circular grassy plot.

Given,
Circumference of grassy plot =

Then, radius of outer semi-circle

i. Area of path = Area of outer semi-circle - Area of inner semi-circle

= 424.63m2

ii. Rate of gravelling the path = Rs.1.50 per m2

Total cost = Rs. 1.50 424.63
= Rs. 636.95
iii. Area of plot

= 1586.87m2

Rate of turfing the plot = 45 paise per m2

Total cost = 1586.87 45paise
= 71409.15 paise
= Rs. 714.09

19. Given

Diameter of two equal un-shaded semicircle = 3.5 cm (given)
Therefore, Radius of each circle =
The diameter of smaller shaded semicircle = 7 cm
Therefore the radius will be = 3.5 cm
Area of shaded portion = area of largest semicircle + area of smaller shaded semicircle
- area of two un-shaded semicircles

sq. cm

cm2

Hence, the area of shaded portion is cm2.
