    Analog Man BEANO BOOST July-2006

    This pedal is an improved version of the Dallas Rangemaster Booster pedal which
    was made in the UK in the 1960s. Here are the basic specifications:

    1. True Bypass
    2. 3PDT stomp switch
    3. Status LED
    4. Power adaptor jack (Boss style, optional at extra charge)
    5. VOLUME knob
    6. Toggle tone switch, with 3 positions. Push/Pull tone switch on volume pot for
    Treble or full range boost optional.
    7. NOS Germanium transistor selected for best tone and low noise.
    8. Circuitry is hand wired just like the original version.
    9. Switchcraft input and output jacks.
    10. Powder coated in grey hammer finish like the original

    The original Dallas Rangemaster is legendary for its crunchy overdriven sound and vocal quality as used by Eric
    Clapton, Brian May, Tony Iommi, and many many more. This pedal sounds best with a guitar with humbucking
    pickups, run into an old british style amp with closed back speaker cabinet. However, it sounds great with almost
    any guitar and amp- use the FULL RANGE setting for less treble. The Analog Man Beano Boost uses a NOS
    germanium transistor chosen carefully to work best in this circuit, biased correctly with no need for adjustments.

    JACKS: Right is input, left output. Battery disconnected when input cord removed. Always remove input cable
    when not used as battery will drain even when off. Battery is also disconnected if optional power jack plugged in.

    POWER: 9V internal battery or 9V DC adaptor (adaptor jack optional). Boss, Ibanez, voodoo lab, or most 9V
    DC effects adaptors will work fine. Avoid 9VAC adaptors (line6, foxrox, etc-these will blow it up!) or generic
    adaptors not made for musical use as they may hum. Beano Boosts with DC jack option are built with negative
    ground like a normal effect, so no problem daisy chaining the power cord if so desired. Older Beano Boosts, or
    some without the adaptor jack option, are in the British tradition of positive ground- they can not share an adaptor
    with another effect. If the black battery wire on your BEANO BOOST goes to the input jack, you have the
    negative ground version and need not worry about polarity. If the red battery wire goes to the input jack, do not
    share a power supply with normal pedals. Current draw is about 5mA when effect is ON and almost nothing
    (under .2mA!) when OFF, so a battery will last a long time, about a few hundred hours.

    VOLUME KNOB: Sets the volume, can boost the signal quite a bit to drive an amp further into distortion.
    Has about the same output level ON and OFF with the vol knob set at 9:00. At 11:00 there is about a 10dB boost,
    which sounds twice as loud. At 12:00 there is a 13dB boost, and up all the way is about an 18dB boost which is
    nearly twice as loud as it was at 11:00. Pull it out for full range boost if you have the PUSH/PULL tone option.

    TONE SWITCH: If the tone switch is ordered instead of the push/pull volume knob, there is a 3 position
    switch: up is MID, middle TREBLE, and down is LOW.
