Chapter 3 - Pair of Linear Equations in Two Variables
1. Calculate the area bounded by the line x + y = 10 and both the coordinate axes.
2. Check graphically whether the pair of equations 3x – 2y + 2 = 0 and 32x – y + 3 = 0, is consistent.
Also find the coordinates of the points where the graphs of the equations meet the Y-axis.
3. Draw the graphs of the following equations:2x – y = 1; x + 2y = 13. Find the solution of the equations
from the graph and shade the triangular region formed by the lines and the y-axis.
7. A and B each have a certain number of oranges. A says to B, “If you give me 10 of your oranges, I
will have twice the number of oranges left with you.” B replies,” if you give me 10 of your oranges,
I will have the same number of oranges as left with you. Find the number of oranges with A and B
separately.
