Long stay visas, type D
Description
Providing foreign citizens with type D long-stay visa, to apply for residence
permit in Albania.
Required documentation
1) Application form;
2) Passport-format photo, not older than 6 months;
3) Copy of a valid travel document, having a validity of at least 3 months more
than the expiry deadline of the requested visa;
4) Health insurance for the entire visa duration;
5) For children of less than 18 years of age: a declaration whereby their parent
or legal custodian or the person assigned to them, gives his/her consent for
the child to travel;
6) For visas of D/AE/AP/AT/APU type, the following shall also be provided:
- Invitation by the receiving subject together with the copy of his/her ID card;
- Documents certifying the professional activity whereto the request motives
are related;
- Copy of the work permit issued by Albanian authorities;
- In case of a trade entity, the documents proving its legal status.
7) For a D/ST type visa, the following shall also be provided:
- Document proving the registration in an education institution;
- Guarantee certifying the coverage of costs of life and education;
- Document of health insurance for the stay duration;
- Document confirming the accommodation;
- Document certifying that the person knows the language in which the studies
will be carried out.
8) For a D/BF type visa, the following should also be provided:
- Copy of the ID card of the receiver (if the receiver is a foreign citizen, the
photocopy of the residence permit must also be provided);
- Family certificate of the last month certifying the connection of the person
requesting family reunion;
- Additional documents testifying the consistent link to the person requesting
family reunion;
- Documents proving that the foreign receiver has adequate conditions for
residing;
- Notarized copy of the document proving that the foreign receiver is employed
or self-employed and has sufficient income to secure the life of person he/she
is receiving.
9) For a B/VHF type visa, the following should also be provided:
- Notarized copy of the license on exercising the humanitarian activities;
- Copy of the working permit or certificate of registration for work;
- Declaration on the motive of work by the entity of religious community.
10) For a D/DS type visit, the following shall also be provided:
- Verbal note from the institution;
- Invitation from the receiving institution.
11) For a D/PS type visa, the following shall also be provided:
- Invitation from the receiving subject;
- Notarized copy of the employment contract with the receiver;
- Copy of the working permit, issued by Albanian authorities;
- Document proving that the foreigner is registered with the institutions of the
country of origin.
12) For D/H type visa, the following shall also be provided:
- Documents confirming the humanitarian motives.
Procedural steps
1) Appearing in person (at least when applying for the first time);
2) Filling in the visa form. The visa form for children shall be filled in by one or
both of the parents, or the legal custodian, or the person assigned to them.
3) Appearing in person for obtaining the visa.
Service fee and deadline
Obtaining a visa shall not serve as a guarantee that the foreigner is allowed to
enter the Republic of Albania.
In cases when children have no passport, the visa shall be registered in the visa
of his/her parent or legal custodian, in whose passport he/she is noted.
Upon the rejection of the visa, the foreigner is entitled to re-apply only after the
appealing procedure comes to an end or after the lapse of three months starting
from the date when the decision on rejection was rendered.
Visa application form
