Writer has the following style categories:
Paragraph Styles are used to change the appearance of a paragraph by making changes to the
text alignment, tab stops, line spacing, and so on.
Character Styles are used for a block of text inside a paragraph.
Page Styles are used for page formatting.
Frame Styles are used format graphic and text frames.
List Styles are used to select, format, & position the numbers or bullets in lists.
17 How can you customize the TOC? 3
To customize the Table of Contents, right-click on it and select the option Edit Index/Table.
The insert index/ Table dialog box appears, which has five tabs. Make the required changes
and click on Ok.
18 Write four characteristics of good table of contents. 3
It should be easy to read and simple to use.
It should be organized and formatted properly.
It must be accurate and easily accessible.
It should be given after the title and copyright page.
19 What steps will you follow to crop an image in a Writer document? 3
1. Select the picture for operation.

2. Click Picture Tool from the toolbar → Crop

The features of a database are:
A database can have one or more tables.
Each table in a database contains data about a particular type of subject. As a result, a
database Provides a container for tables and other objects, as well as a management system for
how they might be used. For every table, record uniqueness is an important feature. It helps to
avoid record duplication caused by user or computer errors. One or more fields should be
designated as keys in every database table.

21 Describe the use of forms. How do you create a form? 3
Forms are used to enter and modify the data in tables. Using form, you also search for records.
A form can have a different name from a table, yet a form manipulates the same information
and data to the corresponding table. If we change a record in a form, it will be reflected in the
table also. In OpenOffice Base, a form can be created using the Form Wizard and Design
Mode.
22 In a database, why is it important to create relationships between the tables? 3
A relationship between tables is an important aspect of a good relational database. 1) It
establishes a connection between a pair of tables that are logically related to each other. 2) It
helps to refine table structures and minimize redundant data.

23 Distinguish between one-to-one and one-to-many relationships. 3


In one-to-one relationship, a record in a table has only one matching record in another table,
and vice versa.
In one-to-many relationship, a record of Table A is associated with several matching records
of Table B, but a record of Table B is associated with only one record of Table A.

24 What is a report? When you work a report, you see different sections in it. Describe some of 5
those sections in detail.
A report is a effective way to organize and summarise data for viewing and printing. It consists
of information obtained from table for queries, and presented as per the user’s requirements.
In OpenOffice Base, a report is made up of the following sections: Page Header: It contains
the information that is to be displayed at the top of the report on every page.
Header: It contains the heading of the report.
Detail: This is where you place the consists that make up the main body of the report.
It displays the records and appears between the page header and page footer.
Page Footer: This section is printed at the end of every page. It is used to print the page
number or total number of pages.
25 Sudeep runs a small bookstore and wants to maintain an inventory of books. He needs to 5
record information such as book titles, authors, ISBNs, publication dates, prices, and
stock levels. However, he is not familiar with database management systems. Explain the
following concepts to help him understand DBMS:
a) What is DBMS?
b) What are the advantages of using DBMS?
c) Name any two database programs that can be used to create a table and store the data
according to his requirements.
d) Which field can be set as a Primary Key

26 Hoovitha wants to set a template as custom template in Writer. What steps should she follow to 5
perform this task?

1. Use File > New > Templates. In the Templates dialog, double-click the template you
want to use. A new document opens, containing any text or graphics that were in the
template.
2. Delete any unwanted text or graphics from this new document.
3. Open the document you want to change. (It opens in a new window.)
4. Use Edit > Select All, or press Ctrl+A, to select everything in the document.
5. Click in the blank document created in step 1. Use Edit > Paste, or press Ctrl+V, to
paste the contents from the old document into the new one.
6. Update the table of contents, if there is one. Close the old file without saving. Use File
> Save As to save this new file with the name of the file from which content was taken.
When asked, confirm you wish to overwrite the old file. Or, you may prefer to save the
new file under a new name and preserve the old file under its original name.
