THE DIGITAL WORLD
In the digital era, computer played an impacting role that changed the
world over time and your life as well. As we are connected worldwide it changes
the way how we communicate on the other side of the world and that connotes
the idea how computer shapes our daily lives. Imagine how far the technology
brought tremendous change over time. A task can be done just in a click of a
remote- controlled device. Ergo, it speeds up your work in a better and precise
outcome. That is how your digital device changed your life.
THE ELEMENTS OF COMPUTER SYSTEM
A computer system is fundamentally composed of hardware that includes the electronic and
mechanical parts of a computer while software are the different programs and other
operating information stored on a computer hardware.
A. Output Devices
a. Monitor – display graphic information and images through video card.
b. Printer – is an output device that converts information from a computer and transfer
it to a paper to create a hard copy.Keyboard – is an input device used to enter
characters and functions.
c. Speaker/Head Set – is an output computer hardware that produces sound connected
to the computer.
B. Input Devices
a. Mouse – is an input device used to manipulate objects on the computer screen and
can drag the object as well.
b. Scanner – is an input device that captures images and text and process as required.
c. Digital Pen – is a writing tool connected to the computer that captures handwriting or
stroke of the user.
d. Keyboard – is an input device that has letters and numbers on the keys. It is use to
type data.
C. Storage Device
a. Hard disk drive – is the main and permanent data storage.
b. Optical drive – it is used as an optical disk such as cd, dvd, and blu-ray dvd.
c. Portable hard disk drive – it is attached to a computer through usb or wireless
connection to your computer.
d. Flash drive – is a portable storage device because it is handy and less chances of
damage.
HOW TO ACCESS COMPUTER-BASED INFORMATION

Enter the name of a file and Windows will search the disk and show a list of all files that
match the criteria. When you have found the file click on the file and the parent
application will load and open the file for viewing or editing.
Click the window icon and click start and choose computer. On the top corner is where
you can find the search box. You can enter the name of the file or the partial name and
let the windows search for the file. Once you found the file, double click it to open and it
is ready for editing or searching.
Mostly even your personal and businesses have there filename to assist you or to help
your people in finding your files. Under your windows’ filename can be of maximum of
256 characters and may include characters that can be found on your keyboard with the
exception of the following: / \ * ? % * : | ; “ < > and the last „ that it indicates the start of
the extension.
Your filename should be descriptive that reflects on its content for easy searching.
Folders
In instance that you have a bunch of files and you want your monitor more organized or
to compress your files in one location, it is best to create folder/s or its sub-directories. It
