MATATAG School Grade Level Four

K to 10 Curriculum
Weekly Lesson Log Name of Teacher Learning Area Science

Teaching Dates and Time December 9-13, 2024 (Week 2) Quarter Third

DAY 1

I. CURRICULUM CONTENT, STANDARDS, AND LESSON COMPETENCIES

A. Content Standards The learners learn that science processes help in observing and predicting how things move and pushes and
pulls can change the position and shape of objects

B. Performance By the end of the quarter, learners use simple equipment and processes to measure and record data related
Standards to movement and describe and predict the way things around them move using more scientifically technical
language and concepts, such as speed and force.

C. Learning The learners measure accurately the distance and time when things move using simple equipment.
Competencies and
Objectives

D. Content Describing Motion Using Distance, Time, and Speed

E. Integration Edukasyon sa Pagpapahalaga (Patience)

Math (Measuring Distance)
Physical Education (agility, balance, and coordination)
Health and Medicine (prescribed dosage of medicines)

II. LEARNING RESOURCES

III. TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCEDURES

A. Activating Prior Examine the picture carefully. Then, answer the following questions.
Knowledge
B. Establishing Lesson
Purpose

Look at the pictures then nswer the following questions

Who do you think will win in this race? Why?
How do we determine the winner?
Have you tried participating in a 100-m dash or similar races?
When can we say that a person runs fast?
Why is understanding the concept of speed important in sports like track and field?

The motion of a person or an object can be described using the concepts of distance, time, and speed.
● Distance is a measure of how far two points are from each other. It can be measured using a ruler, a meter
stick, or a tape measure.
● Time is a measure of the duration of an event taking place. It can be measured with a watch.
● Speed is a measure of how fast an object moves

From this triangle we can work out how to calculate each measure: We can ‘cover up’ what we are trying to
find and the formula triangle tells us what calculation to do.

C. Developing Group Activity

and Read and answer the following problems.
Deepening Group 1
Understanding A female Palarong Pambansa sprinter from Negros Oriental finished the 100-m dash competition in 10 seconds.
What was her speed?

Group 2
Recess time is almost over, so a Grade 4 pupil walks fast from the canteen to her classroom for 20 seconds. Her
classroom is 10 meters from the canteen. How fast did she walk?
Group 3
The Philippine eagle is the national bird of the Philippines. If it can travel 100 kilometers in one hour, what is its
speed?

Group 4
The Philippine tarsier is famous for being the smallest monkey in the world. These tiny creatures like to stay high up
in the trees and jump from branch to branch in the jungle. They can travel 20 kilometers in 0.5 hour. Determine its
speed.

Activity 2
Choose the letter of the correct answer.
1.What is the speed of a car that travels 400 m in 20 minutes?
A. 20 miles/hr
B. 20 m/min
C. 200 miles/hr
D. 400 m/min
2. What is the speed of a man who runs 10 miles in 1 hr?
A. 20 miles
B. 10 miles/hr
C. 10 m/min
D. 20 hr
3. What is the equation to calculate speed?
A. S = d ÷ t
B. S = t x d
C. S = t ÷ d
D. S = s÷ t

D. Making Make a concept map about how motion is described in this lesson.
Generalization
