Princeton Charter School Summer Reading

Dear Princeton Charter School Student:

Congratulations!! You have completed another year of challenge and discovery at Princeton Charter!
As you relax and possibly travel over these next months, take your imagination with you. Summer is a perfect
time to dive into great books. Reading gives us somewhere to go even when we have to stay where we are.

For this year’s English summer reading assignment, your teachers are encouraging you to read at least three
books and to respond to each book using the Reading Bingo Boards. Our hope is to have you read as much as
you can this summer, traveling the world from your own backyard and bedroom!

You may choose books from the library (click here for PPL’s summer reading program), a bookstore, and/or the
attached Teacher-Treasured Reading List - a list of books we love that we think you might love as well!

Books may be selected at your grade level, below, or above with parental approval.

You are to read at least three books and respond on paper, in a journal, or on a Google document to the Reading
Bingo questions below. There are two charts: Fiction Reading Bingo and Non Fiction Reading Bingo, but you
may read any kind of approved book as long as you’re reading.

When you return to PCS in September, you will be asked to share your summer reading with your English
teacher. This will be your first important grade of the year in ELA.

Happy Reading!
Fiction Bingo!
Complete and cross off a box for each book you read. You will complete ONE box
for each book for a total of three books - fiction or nonfiction - your choice. That
means you will complete THREE DIFFERENT RESPONSES TOTAL FROM EITHER
THE FICTION OR NONFICTION BINGO BOARD.

Write your responses in complete sentences. You may write on a separate piece
of paper or in a Google document. Include the title and author of the book, and
make sure to include the number of the response you choose. Each response
should be a half page for 3-5th graders but longer for 6-8th graders. Make sure
to include your name.
