 Leon and Ada Go to Town (Draft 10) 1

LEON AND ADA GO TO TOWN: SCENE 1 (BARN)

LEON and ADA back up against a wall. They are on the UPPER FLOOR
of the BARN. HORDES OF GANADOS surround them from below.

LEON
They’re closing in on us.

ADA
I can see that. Keep them busy.
I’ll meet you at the bridge.

ADA runs for the WINDOW next to them.

LEON
Ada, wait!

ADA jumps out the window.

LEON
You gotta be kidding me.

OUTSIDE: ADA sees three GANADOS closing in.

One of them CHARGES at her.

ADA back kicks the GANADO to the floor and SHOOTS them. She
charges at the other two GANADOS with a FLYING two feet kick-

She grabs the first GANADOS’s head in between her legs and DROP
KICKS the GANADO behind them. She twists her leg as she falls,
LAUNCHING the GANADO caught in the leg lock off the ledge. ADA
fires a few rounds on the toppled GANADO.

ADA
(if it’s a male Ganado:)
Good boy.
(otherwise:)
Sweet dreams.

INSIDE: LEON fights off GANADOS. Some of them CLIMB UP THE LADDER
to the upper floor. LEON can barely hold them off.

LEON
I need some help here, if you don’t
mind!

No response.

LEON peaks out the window. She’s nowhere to be seen.

A CROWD OF GANADOS tackle LEON to the floor. Leon Tries to fight

his way out-

He hears a loud groan. The BRUTE swings its SLEDGEHAMMER to make a

clear path for itself. The sheer force of SLEDGEHAMMER kills and
knocks a few GANADOS over.

The BRUTE stands tall, silhouette against the outside light. He

rushes toward the ladder.

LEON
Ah great. This just keeps getting
better, doesn’t it...?

LEON pushes his way out of the GANADOS. They grab his foot. He
SHOOTS them with his PISTOL.

The BRUTE climbs up. LEON almost gets out...

The BRUTE grabs him by his throat-

And LAUNCHES him out the window. He is now outside. The BRUTE goes
after him.

He picks LEON up from the floor by the throat. PUMMELS him with
his SLEDGEHAMMER in the ribs. SWINGS it at him-

And sends him FLYING off the ledge, down to the village below.

LEON is made unconscious for a few seconds, when suddenly, he

quickly gets up to see a GANADO trying to strangle him on the
ground.

LEON kicks the GANADO in its face, grabs his empty pistol and
starts limping towards the BRIDGE, barely holding on.

The BRIDGE GATE is closed. No way out. BRUTE starts walking toward
him with the SLEDGEHAMMER.

LEON
God damn... Guess I’m sandwiched
alright. You and me big guy. Bring
it on!

A BULLET goes through the BRUTE’s head. It stuns him.

ADA grapples to a nearby rooftop. LEON looks back – the BRIDGE

GATE starts rising.

LEON
What took you so long?

ADA
Run to the bridge!

LEON runs for it. ADA follows.

INSIDE THE WINDMILL, a GANADO holds the LEVER together. The LEVER
has been poked through his head. Only thing holding the LEVER
together being his remains-

ADA and LEON make it across the other side. The BRUTE starts
charging. They aim their guns-

INSIDE THE WINDMILL, the GANADO SNAPS. The LEVER flicks to the
left-

AT THE BRIDGE, the GATE STARTS CLOSING. The BRUTE is RIGHT

UNDERNEATH IT-

THE GATE CRUSHES THE BRUTE. KILLING HIM IN A GRUESOME MANNER. His
remains keep the GATE just open enough for a select few GANADOS to
crawl through. LEON and ADA nod at each other. Start running.

LEON AND ADA GO TO TOWN: SCENE 2 (BRIDGE)

LEON and ADA run through the BRIDGE and TOWARD the CABIN. At the
front yard, DEAD GANADOS are all over the place. LEON grabs a
MOLOTOV from one of the bodies and THROWS it at the BRIDGE.

FIRE ENGULFS the GANADOS at the BRIDGE. SLOWING THEM DOWN. ADA and
LEON close the gate, putting a WAGON in front of it to block it.

LEON and ADA run for the CABIN.

LEON
The door is blocked.

ADA
On three.

ADA puts her shoulder against the door. LEON complies.

ADA
One, two-

LEON
Three.

They SHOULDER the DOOR open.

LEON AND ADA GO TO TOWN: SCENE 3 (CABIN)

A BOOKSHELF that was blocking the door falls over.

LEON
Get in!

LEON and ADA get inside. They shut the door tightly. Locking it
shut. A moment to breathe.

LEON
That should hold them back.

A pause.

LEON
Are you okay?

A beat.

ADA
You don’t look so good.

LEON looks at his chest- it’s BLOODIED and BRUISED.

LEON
I’m fine. But I’m not the priority
here. I need to get going...

LEON begins climbing up the stairs-

He tumbles over. He can barely walk.

ADA
Are your legs working, Leon?

LEON
(COUGH) My lungs sure aren’t.

ADA assists LEON to the BED upstairs.

ADA
Stay still. I’ll patch you up.

ADA goes to remove LEON’s jacket.

LEON grabs her wrist. They stare at each other. A beat.

LEON sighs. Opens up the jacket himself.

ADA shakes her head. Reaches for his shirt. Lifts it up.

The bruise on his torso is EXTREMELY bloody.

ADA

That is a pretty ugly bruise.

Surprised you’re still alive.

ADA starts patching him up.

LEON
Maybe if you didn’t leave me with a
7 feet tall giga-brute with a
sledgehammer and a dream, maybe I’d
have a prettier bruise to show you.

ADA
Is this the way you usually talk to
women?

LEON
Kinda hard to talk with half a hole
in my chest.

ADA tightens the bandage.

LEON WINCES.

ADA finishes up.

ADA
It will heal up. You’ll pull
through.

She gets up and puts the bandage kit away. She starts adjusting
her hair. LEON looks at her back for a moment.

ADA
So. What are you doing here?

LEON
Is this a question you already know
the answer to?

ADA
 Leon and Ada Go to Town (Draft 10) 7

That’s a very indelicate way to

talk to a woman.

LEON
Right. Means the world coming from
you. Talking about indelicacy.

ADA doesn’t respond. LEON checks his bruises.

LEON
You should go. I’ll catch up with
you later.

ADA
Get up and stand straight for 10
seconds and I will.

LEON tries standing up, but he can’t. He COUGHS, then lays back
down on the bed.

ADA
You are not going anywhere until
you’re healed up. Lie down.

LEON
Very considerate, but I’m afraid I
can’t.

ADA
Why? You seem worked up.

LEON scoffs.

LEON
Let’s see.
I’m stuck in the middle of nowhere.
The locals are singing Kumbaya
while chanting for my death. I’m
sure failing to show up kindness to
my neighbors. And to top it all

off, I’m in a cabin with the last

person I thought I’d run into here.
Yes, I am indeed worked up.

ADA
I thought you would be happy seeing
a friendly face.

LEON
I’m not so sure if I consider you
“friendly”, Ada.

LEON coughs. Hard.

ADA
Well at least that jacket of yours
seems in good condition. One
blossoming rose in an iridescence
of withers.

LEON scoffs. He looks at ADA.

LEON
What are you even doing here this
time?

No response.

LEON
Are you running me into a nest
again?

ADA
You’re asking me too many questions
for your own good, Leon.

LEON
Last time I didn’t, you pointed a
gun at me.

A pause. Then.

ADA
We’re both after the same thing,
Leon. Just for different reasons.

LEON
You are only after yourself. You
and whoever it is that is paying
you today.

ADA
How about you do yourself a favor
and save your breath. You’ve wasted
it enough on asking questions you
shouldn’t be asking. Chasing people
you shouldn’t be chasing. For a
special forces’ operator, this
small village is a huge migraine.

LEON
You are the reason why I’m in this
bed, Ada. Because you disappeared,
like you always do.

LEON gets up. He can stand up now.

ADA
I see... Well, what happened to
your friend? The President’s
daughter? United States’ very own
poster girl?

LEON
I’m suspecting you may know the
answer to that more than me.

ADA
The daughter is of no interest to
me. But you and the president are
in a tight chokehold from her here.

LEON
Do you know where she is? Is she
okay?

ADA
It’s not my job to know that. I
have more serious matters to attend
to. Matters worth fighting for.

A beat. LEON can’t believe this.

ADA
Leave the girl. She’s bringing you
nothing but trouble. And since
you’re here we can work together.
Get this paperwork done for once.
Once we’re out, you’ll be rewarded
well. Who knows, maybe I’ll even
get you that “greeting” you were
looking for.

LEON
Very tempting. But unlike you, I
have people I care to look out for.

ADA
Right. So you’ll just tire yourself
out to death while she keeps being
abducted?

LEON
I’d rather that than look at
another badge they made up for you.

LEON grabs his guns. Starts walking out.

LEON
Ada. It was nice catching up. But I
can’t stay for longer. Do yourself
a favor and get the hell out of
this place. Goodbye.

LEON begins leaving, putting his jacket on. He adjusts his knife
holster.

His knife is missing.

ADA
Looking for this?

LEON turns around with a SPARE SURVIVAL KNIFE-

ADA has the knife pointed at LEON’s throat. He looks down. His
PISTOL is being pointed at his abdomen by ADA.

She flips it around, offering the gun back to him. ADA puts his
knife back into his holster. They look at each other. A beat.

LEON AND ADA GO TO TOWN: SCENE 4A (BOULDER)

A GANADO is LAUNCHED through the WINDOW OPENING. LEON and ADA get
down to the floor. LEON sneaks a peak.

EL GIGANTE picks up a BOULDER from the floor. Aims it at the

CABIN.

ADA
Leon!

ADA pushes LEON to the side-

The BOULDER CRUSHES half of the CABIN. The upper floor starts
collapsing.

LEON
Quick!

LEON and ADA run for the upper floor door.

LEON AND ADA GO TO TOWN: SCENE 4B (DYNAMITE SCENE)

LEON and ADA are outside. They run down the PATHWAY TO THE
SLAUGHTERHOUSE.

ADA
I know this path. It should lead to
the castle.

LEON
I’m assuming the hosts won’t roll
out the red carpets with this one.

A GANADO standing above the cliffs looming the path throws a

DYNAMITE at ADA.

LEON
Look out!

ADA goes flying against the cliff walls. The GANADO signals to
those behind him.

LEON
Ada!

ADA
I’m fine! Shoot!

LEON
You don’t seem so fine.

The WOODEN STRUCUTRE holding up a boulder above them starts

breaking.

GANADO
Atrápenlos, mierda! Hijo de la puta
de tu la madre, puto!

LEON turns around-

EL GIGANTE chases behind them, shaking the floor with each step.

LEON
Quick, we gotta go.

LEON picks ADA up. Supports her weight on his shoulder. Starts
running.

The GANADO who threw the dynamite from above at ADA screams at
LEON. TWO OTHER GANADOS stand behind him. They all hold MOLOTOVS.

LEON sees them, and SHOOTS one of them in the head.

The GANADO topples over, knocking his other GANADO friends beside
him with the Molotov in hand.

The MOLOTOVS they were holding ENGULF INTO FLAMES as they plop
down below at the exit of the narrow path, blocking the way for
the GANADOS to go through with fire temporarily. The WOODEN
STRUCTURE burns.

EL GIGANTE catches up at the exit. He bangs on the walls as he

squeezes his way toward them.

One of his hand slams onto the WOODEN STRUCTURE’s beams-

And it CRUMBLES. The BOULDER laying on top of it comes CRASHING

DOWN. It falls on the GANADOS and EL GIGANTE. The path is blocked.

LEON
Quick. Into that cabin.

ADA
Alright...

LEON AND ADA GO TO TOWN: SCENE 5 (SLAUGHTERHOUSE)

LEON and ADA walk into the SLAUGHTERHOUSE, charred. He BLOCKS the
door with a nearby object.

MENDEZ’s charred body is on the floor.

ADA
What happened here?

LEON
Nothing nice.

ADA
Seems like you gave him quite the
treatment.

LEON
Nothing but the second best.

ADA falls nearby a wall. LEON crouches down near her.

LEON
That was a bad blow back there.
Surprised you’re alive.

ADA tries getting up, but falls back down.

ADA
I’m fine. I just need some
bandages...

ADA starts looking for her bandages. Can’t find it.

LEON
You mean this?

LEON holds up a PACK OF BANDAGES. It is slightly worn out with

debris.

ADA looks at it. Defeated.

LEON begins to patch her up-

ADA grabs his wrist.

LEON
What are you doing?

ADA
I can do it myself. Thank you.

LEON whips the bandages away from ADA.

LEON
How about you let the tough act
down for a bit, huh? I’ve done it
before. I don’t see why a second
time would hurt.

ADA snatches the bandages away from LEON. LEON sighs. Gets up.

ADA tries to patch it up herself. It hurts a lot. She SHIVERS from

the cold. Struggles.

LEON throws his JACKET near her.

LEON
Next time wear a sweater. Better
for cold environments.

He begins to walk away. ADA tries to patch up the wound.

STRUGGLES. She can do it, but... she looks at LEON again.

As LEON begins walking, he hears a sound. Bandage wraps being

dropped on the floor behind him. LEON turns around.

ADA. Wearing LEON’s jacket. Eyes dead. Defeated. LEON looks at her
like a deer in headlights. He’s never seen her this vulnerable.

He crouches down, grabs the bandages. Slowly reaches for the

wound. Checks her back ribs.

Through her cloth, SCRATCHES filled with UGLY WOUNDS and BRUISES
are there. LEON wants to bandage it, but is afraid to reach for
her shirt-

ADA signals him to stop. Raises her cloth (or lowers it if she’s
wearing the dress), exposing her wound. A beat.

ADA
What are you waiting for?

LEON nods. Begins patching up her wounds.

ADA winces.
 Leon and Ada Go to Town (Draft 10) 16

LEON
It will heal up. Pinky promise.
You’ll pull through.

ADA can’t even look at him. He finishes up the wrapping.

LEON
There you go. Should be good as
new.

ADA wears her clothes normally again. She checks the bandaging
work to make sure it’s applying pressure to the wound.

He sits down beside her. Takes a moment to rest. A million

emotions are going through him right now.

ADA
I barely know you. And yet, I’m not
surprised at all you chose to do
this, even though you clearly don’t
want anything to do with me during
your mission.

LEON
I used to be a Police Officer. It’s
our job to help people who need it.

ADA
So selfless. The Jade Emperor’s
favorite disciple.

LEON
What?

ADA
Forget about it. Just something I
heard once. Seems like it fits you.

LEON
...Thanks.

ADA chuckles.

ADA
No matter how much you try to avoid
it. You can’t stop yourself from
doing the right thing, can you?

LEON
Well, you did patch me up earlier.
I guess we’re even.

ADA
There are too many things in
question for us to ever be even.

LEON
Such as?

ADA
You wouldn’t understand. But I
guess I now owe you.

ADA sighs.

ADA
I’m a mess. It’s probably better if
you go and leave me here.

LEON
I’m not leaving you like this. They
will be coming soon.

ADA
I can handle myself.

LEON
And plus, that is a very nice
jacket.

ADA

Then take it. A little shiver won’t

kill me.

LEON
I’m afraid I can’t do that, Miss
FBI.

ADA looks at LEON. Sighs.

ADA
Why. Why don’t you just leave? I’m
slowing you down here.

LEON pauses. Thinks. Then.

LEON
Because I have a couple questions
to ask you.

ADA listens.

LEON
Back in the NEST, when it was all
going down. You could’ve shot me.
Shot me then ran away with the G-
Virus. You had the gun on me first.
You had the experience a rookie
could never have. You had me in.
Why didn’t you pull the trigger?

ADA
Unnecessary casualties weren’t
something my job needed.

LEON looks at her. Pause. ADA slowly cracks.

ADA
The whole place was going down. I
figured you’d go down with- I
underestimated you. That’s all.

LEON
I’m sure that’s only half of the
picture. But I’m assuming it’s not
in your job description to be
descriptive of your actions.

ADA
You know me so well.

LEON stands up. Reloads his gun.

LEON
But I will say... I don’t think you
just magically guessed where this
path led onto. How did you know
this path led onto the castle?

ADA feels incredibly helpless.

ADA
You really do ask too many
questions for your own good, Leon.
And I’m afraid I can’t answer none
of them.

LEON looks at her. Disappointed. No answers are coming out.

LEON
There’s some extra magazines on the
jacket pockets. Should work with
your gun. Stay safe. Goodbye, Ada.

LEON begins to leave.

ADA
Wait, Leon!

ADA stands up. Takes off LEON’s jacket.

ADA

I can answer one thing.

LEON stops.

ADA
The girl. The president’s daughter.
I know where she is. I can take you
there. But after that, we’re
walking our separate ways.

LEON
Where is she?

They stare each other down. A suspenseful beat.

LEON AND ADA GO TO TOWN: SCENE 6 (CASTLE TEASE)

LEON and ADA walk out.

ADA (V.O.)
Your friend is at the clock tower,
deep within the castle. She’s alive
and well. They need her so they can
bargain over with the president.

SHOTS of LEON and ADA heading to the castle are shown.

ADA (V.O.)
She’s heavily guarded. They won’t
hurt her for as long as the
president is on their plate.

LEON (V.O.)
I don’t think it’s a good idea to
overextend our welcome ceremony
then.

ADA (V.O.)
I know the place inside out. Try
not get yourself killed. They won’t
find you in here.

They arrive.

LEON (V.O.)
I guess you can say we’re even.

ADA (V.O.)
No. Once we’re done, you’ll owe me.

SHOTS OF THE CASTLE AT NIGHT fill their view. We hold onto it,
then...

CUT TO BLACK.
