Important Reminder: Student Welfare
Please can we remind you about the process for leaving school if you are unwell:
Students should come to Student Welfare where you will be given appropriate treatment and care.
If the Student Welfare staff deem that you are too unwell to stay in school, we will contact the parents and
request that they come to collect.
Just a reminder that Mrs Ball, Miss Kinch and Mrs Harle are always available for drop-in chats in the well-
being hub at lunchtimes.
If you have used the Counselling Service and you just want to stop by and catch up, they'd like to see you.
If you've not used the Hub before but you are having a bit of a wobbly day, pop in and have a quick chat,
they are a sympathetic listening ear.
Or, you may just need 10 minutes quiet time in your day and the Well-being Hub can provide a calm and
quiet space for 10 minutes 'out'.
Complicité are broadcasting a 12 part dramatisation of The Dark is Rising on BBC World Service this
Christmas.
We invite young listeners (Yrs7-9) to write their own radio play, to have the chance for their play to
be professionally recorded and produced by Complicité.
You can find the call out here. The call out includes a resource pack on how to write your own play. We
welcome young people to do this at home over the Christmas holidays or together with their teacher in the
lead up to Christmas.
In the event of extreme weather, e.g. snow or dangerously high winds, we will of course default to the
school being open for business as usual, but there may be occasions when the conditions are not safe on
site, or when staff are unable to travel to work.
Our website will have up to date information in the event of snow. Please do not telephone the school, but
instead check the school website and/or the Bucks county website for school closures (remember to refresh
it as information is constantly updated). There are three status categories: GREEN (school open as usual),
RED (school closed), and AMBER (changes to usual school opening times – please check the exact
details). Amber status could include, for example, partial closure, or late start time etc. We will aim to make
this information available on the school website and the county website by 7am.
On the first day of closure due to snow, we will email you guidance and reminders for effective study
skills/ideas, and many of you, especially Years 10-13, will want to spend at least some of the day working
independently. We would like you to be able to enjoy a ‘snow day’, however, so try to get outside! If the
school has to remain closed for more than one day, we will provide structured remote learning.
If you have lost any items of value e.g. Jewellery or electronic devices etc. please can you fill out the
valuable items lost register so that we can check if we have any of these items in the Pastoral hub.
We currently have a high number of lost valuable items already in lost property and we are only in the first
term!
In future, please can you refrain from wearing items of high value in school.
