Introduction
Every year, the town of Sagñay comes alive with the vibrant and joyous celebration of its annual fiesta in
honor of its patron saint, San Andres. This festivity is more than just a tradition; it is a profound
expression of the community's faith, culture, and unity. The Town Fiesta of Sagñay is a time when
residents and visitors alike come together to celebrate with a series of activities that blend religious
observance, cultural displays, and communal bonding.
The heart of the fiesta is its religious aspect, paying homage to San Andres. The celebration begins with
a novena, a nine-day series of prayers and masses leading up to the feast day. Devotees gather at the
church, adorned with colorful decorations, to participate in the solemn rites. The most anticipated event
is the grand procession, where the image of San Andres is carried through the streets. This procession is
a powerful demonstration of the town's collective faith, as participants walk in reverence, singing hymns
and offering prayers. The procession not only honors the patron saint but also serves as a reminder of
the deep-rooted religious traditions that bind the community together.
Parallel to the religious activities, the fiesta showcases Sagñay's rich cultural heritage through various
performances and events. The town plaza becomes a stage for the activities held before and during the
town fiesta in sagñay. On November 21-30 there are many different activities that is being held in the
upcoming town fiesta in sagñay such as the civic parade, cosplay competition and the guipao festival
where there are many participants who is joining with their different costumes and performances.
A highlight of the cultural festivities is the "Sagñay Festival Parade," where creatively decorated floats
depicting local folklore and significant events parade through the town. Schools, organizations, and
community groups participate, adding to the festive atmosphere with their colorful and imaginative
presentations. The parade is accompanied by marching bands, whose lively music fills the air with a
sense of celebration and joy.
The fiesta also serves as a platform for strengthening community bonds. Various competitions are
organized, modern contests such as talent shows and beauty pageants which is the search for miss
sagñay.
Food plays a central role in the celebration, with families preparing traditional Bicolano dishes like
"laing" and "Bicol Express" to share with friends, relatives, and visitors. In November 27 there is a boodle
fight happened in the sagñay sports complex where the mayor of sagñay give that activity for the people
of sagñay who join that day. Creating an atmosphere of abundance and hospitality. During the town
fiesta, in the morning there is a mass where is celebrated the day of the town fiesta after that families
are going to their own houses and sharing their foods "handa" to their visitors and neighbor's. In the
evening there is a last activity where their is a "pabayli" or dance where all people in sagñay are free to
join in the said activity of traditional Bicolano dances such as the "cha-cha-cha" and "square dance,"
where played bicolano song's. These activities encourage participation from people of all ages, fostering
a sense of camaraderie and unity.

The Town Fiesta of Sagñay is a multifaceted celebration that brings together religious devotion, cultural
expression, and communal spirit. It is a time when the town's rich traditions are vividly brought to life,
and the bonds of community are strengthened. Celebrating the fiesta of San Andres not only honors the
