2 Read the following passage, then answer the questions:
Who shapes the person you are the most? Parents or other family
members are probably at the top of the list for many people. But a close
second place very likely goes to a teacher. Some of the most influential
and successful people in the world have a teacher in their childhood to
thank for their success.
Without two of Bill Gates’s high school teachers, our world could be
without Microsoft products. His maths teacher, Fred Wright, asked him
to push himself just a little bit harder. Maybe that’s why the founder of
Microsoft sometimes slept under his desk in the office instead of going
home to relax after work. And his drama teacher, Anne Stephens, helped
him discover a love of the spotlight when she made the shy schoolboy the
star of the school play. Gates thanked his teachers, saying, ’There would
never be a Microsoft without them doing what they did.’
And he’s not the only one. Oprah Winfrey, talk show host, actress and TV
producer, was inspired by her fourth grade teacher, Mrs Duncan. Because
of her, Oprah says, ’I felt I could take on the world. You did exactly what
teachers are supposed to do. They create a spark for learning that lives
with you from then on. It’s why I have a talk show today.’ So, if you have a
teacher like this, you’re one of the lucky ones.

2 Read the following passage, then answer the questions:
A Plastic Ocean is a film released last week, and it’s meant to make you
think. Think, and then act. We need to take action on our dependence on
plastic. The film, A Plastic Ocean, is a documentary that looks at the impact
that plastic waste has on the environment.
The film begins as a journey to film the largest animal on the planet,
the blue whale. But during the journey, the filmmakers make the shocking
discovery of a huge, thick layer of plastic floating in the middle of the Indian
Ocean. In total, they visited 20 locations around the world during the four
years it took them to make the film.
It’s very clear that a lot of research went into the film. There are beautiful
shots of the sea and marine life. We see how marine species are being killed
by all the plastic we are dumping in the ocean.
In the second half, the filmmakers present short-term and long-term
solutions. These include avoiding plastic containers and ‘single-use’ plastic
products as much as possible. Reuse your plastic bags and recycle as much
as you can. The filmmakers also stress the need for governments to work
more on recycling programmes, and look at how technology can convert
plastic into fuel.

2 Read the following passage, then answer the questions:
Sometimes, we enjoy being a little lazy. In order to carry out our tasks,
work efficiently, live to the fullest, and achieve success, we must learn how
to overcome laziness. We need to be able to resist it.
We often avoid tasks because we find them big and tiring, or they take
too much of our time. Breaking a task into several smaller tasks can solve
this problem. Then, each task will not seem so difficult. Instead of having
one big task, we will have a series of small tasks, which do not require too
much effort.
This approach can be applied not only to tasks but also to goals and
everything else we have or need to do. In some cases, laziness is due to
being tired and lacking energy. If this is true in your case, you need to give
yourself the rest and sleep you need, and you also need to provide your
body with enough exercise and fresh air.
In some cases, the reason for laziness is a lack of motivation. You
can strengthen your motivation by thinking about the importance of
performing your task or achieving your goal.
Overcoming the habit of laziness is achieved through a series of daily
actions and activities. You need to choose to act instead of staying still.
Do not be afraid to leave your comfort zone. Your comfort zone might be
comfortable, but it will keep you in one place, preventing you from making
progress.

2 Read the following passage, then answer the questions:
One thing that is common among successful people is their ability to
learn and grow from all their experiences. Those who rise to the top are
often those who seek tools and techniques for general improvement.
Perhaps the most powerful way to achieve this kind of personal growth is
by mastering the art of self-reflection.
Self-reflection is the act of meditating or considering on oneself and
their actions. This process offers us a time to reflect on our actions, our
beliefs, and our surroundings.
It’s a technique that takes practice and mastery, but once one perfects
how to reflect and learn, personal reflection can act as one of the ultimate
keys to success, especially if a person uses it to get used to positive thinking.
Looking at the lives of other successful people and understanding how
they got from where they started to where they ended up is an important
step in learning to guide your own self-reflection.
A student looking to develop their reflection skills may even use the
opportunity to perform research into the lives of successful people. Apart
from students, a lot of people can benefit from reading the autobiographies
of famous people in order to learn more about their path to success. The
most successful people are those who have learned to overcome difficulty.
Overcoming difficulty requires a great degree of problem-solving ability.

Read the following passage, then answer the questions:

“A friend in need is a friend indeed.” Has that wise saying been proved to you? Did any of
your close friends ever stand beside you at the times of sorrow, distress or the times of joy?
That has become a needle in a haystack at those times of struggling and climbing on the
shoulders of others
At the very beginning of one’s life, a child makes friends with a lot of peers who are
maybe a mixture of good or bad. He, due to his young age, can’t perfectly judge or decide
who to continue keeping or losing friendship with. By the time he becomes older, the number
of friends decreases to a number that doesn’t exceed the number of one hand fingers. It all
depends on to what extent they are faithful, selfless and honest to each other
Friendship that all mankind always search for, as it’s mainly a human instinct and man is
social by nature, has become a rare value. Friends can help you celebrate good times and
provide support in bad ones . They prevent isolation and loneliness and increase your sense
of belonging. The so called “Friends” on social media, because you only contact with them
and limit themselves in comments or emojis to congratulate and condole instead of hastening
to stand right next to you unless they have tough conditions, are false friends. My advice is to
carefully choose your friends.
