Why do we need constitution?
A constitution has written laws accepted by people
living together in country.
A Constitution is essential because it establishes the
fundamental framework for how a country or
organization is governed.
It generates trust , coordination and equality between
government and the citizens.
It lays down the limits on the power of the government.
It lays down the rights and duties of the citizen.
CONSTITUTION

A constitution is a set of fundamental


principle ,rules, and laws that outline how a
country or organization is governed. It
establishes the framework for the structure ,
power and function of government as well as
the rights and responsibilities of citizens.
Key Feature Of Constitution:-
Framework of government:- Defines how the
government is organized and its functioning.
Rules of law:- Ensures that everyone , including
government officials, is subject to the laws.
Protection of rights :- Guarantees fundamental
rights and freedom for individuals.
Guidelines for policies :- Provides a fundamental
for creating laws and policies.
Amendability:- Includes provisions for changes
to address evolving needs and circumstances.
PREAMBLE

A preamble is a introductory statement at the


beginning of a constitution , law or legal
document that outlines its purpose , guiding
principles and objectives.
It sets the tone and context for the document ,
explaining its intent and the values it aims to
uphold.
PREAMBLE OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION
The preamble of Indian constitution states :-
We the people of India , having solemnly resolved
to constitution Indian into sovereigns socialist
secular democratic republic and to secure to all
its citizen :-
Justice, social , Economic and political liberty of
thought , expression , belief , faith and worship.
Equality of status and opportunity and to promote
among them all fraternity assuring the dignity of
individual and the unity and the integrity of nation.
INDIAN CONSTITUTION
The constitution of India is the supreme law of
the country and serves as the fundamental
framework for governance. It is one of the most
comprehensive and detailed constitution in the
world

1949

Indian constitution was enforced on 26 of
January 1950.
Indian constitution is written in Hindi as well as
in English language.
HISTORY OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION
The history of the Indian constitution is rooted
in the country’s struggle for independence and
its aspiration to establish a democratic and
inclusive framework for governance.
The first time the British parliament restored to
regulating the affairs of east India company.
Britishers enforce many laws for smooth
functioning of the company and the people such

On the other hand Indians is also making there
rules and regulation for independence in India.
In 1895 for the first time Bal Gangadhar Tilak
drafted the “Swaraj Bill” , demanding for self –
rule.
Then in 1928, The Nehru Report , prepared by
Motilal Nehru , purposed a domain status
constitution with fundamental rights.
It was Indian's first major effort to frame its
own constitution independently of British
influence.

Then finally the process of drafting the Indian
constitution formally began with the cabinet
plan , which proposed the creation of a
constituent assembly in 1946
The making of Indian constitution was detailed
and transformative process that spanned
several years.
Members of constitutional assembly was
directly elected by provisional assemblies based
on communal representation.
HISTORY OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION
Initially it had 389 members, but after the
partition of India in 1947, 299 members
remained in Indian constitutional assembly.
The assembly met for the first time on
December 9, 1946 under the temporary
chairmanship of Dr. Sacgchidananda Sinha.
Dr. Rajender Parsad was later elected as the
permanent president of assembly.
A drafting committee was appointed on august
29, 1947 with Dr. B.R Ambedkar as chairman
who draft the constitution
The first draft was prepared on February 1948.
The final draft was completed and adopted on

Dr. B.R Ambedkar is known as “Father of Indian
constitution”.
The constitution of India is a monumental
document that reflects the aspiration of a newly
independent nation.
