    3452859 - No physical path is configured for Logical file name


    ARCHIVLINK_SERVERPATH
    Component: BC-SRV-ARL (Basis Components > Basis Services/Communication Interfaces > ArchiveLink),

    Symptom
    Error “No physical path is configured for Logical file name ARCHIVLINK_SERVERPATH” is raised while trying to store an
    ArchiveLink document.

    Reproducing the Issue


    Try to store an ArchiveLink document.
    Example: Using one of the following function modules in standalone mode:
    ARCHIVFILE_SERVER_TO_SERVER
    ARCHIVFILE_TABLE_TO_SERVER

    Cause
    For background please check the following SAP Note:
    2251231 - File validation enforcement switch for empty physical path
    The change mentioned in the note affects all applications including Archive Link.
    Physical Path check is required from SAP Note 2251231 release onwards. File Path ARCHIVLINK_SERVERPATH is one of
    the parameters affected by it.

    Resolution
    1. Run tcode FILE and find the field "ARCHIVLINK_SERVERPATH_LP" in Logical File Path. If it does not exist please
    create it.
    2. Go to "Assignments of Physical Paths to Logical Paths";

    3. Create or edit an entry for the corresponding Syntax group (for example UNIX) of your application server followed by
    <FILENAME>;

    The path in the sample screen capture is /usr/sap/tmp, you will need to maintain your own path and this must exist in
    AL11.

    4. Choose Logical File Name Definition, Cross-Client and select "ARCHIVLINK_SERVERPATH" and maintain Data
    format as DIR, then maintain ARCHIVLINK_SERVERPATH_LP as Logical path.
    5. Save the changes.
    [SIDE NOTE]
    It is possible to "turn off" the validation by changing the value for table FILECMCUST via SM30.
    But as mentioned in the SAP Note 2251231 this is a security threat, the Physical Path should not be empty. From Archive
    Link perspective this cannot be suggested and the path must be implemented correctly.
