 Economy, Business & Finance


 Amul was named the ‘Iconic Changemaker’ brand
in the 5th edition of The Hindu BusinessLine
Changemaker Awards.
 The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs
(CBIC), under the Ministry of Finance, issued a
notification that GST (Goods and Services Tax) at
18% will be levied on 1% of the total amount
guaranteed by the parent company or the actual
consideration, whichever is higher.
 Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Safran
– a global aero-engine design development and
manufacturing company - to develop industrial
cooperation in ring forging manufacturing for
commercial engines.
 India marked a significant milestone in its quest for
self-reliance with the launch of ‘reference fuel’. This
specialized fuel, crucial for automobile calibration
and testing, has been indigenously developed by
the state-run oil and gas major, IOC.

inward remittances from the US to India, for

 SBI Card collaborated with Reliance Retail to
launch a co-branded credit card aimed at providing
a world-class customer experience.
 In one of the largest deals in India's general
insurance space, Swiss insurance major - Zurich
Insurance - will invest approximately ₹4,051 crore
to acquire a 51 per cent stake in Kotak General
Insurance.
 People in News
 Henry Harvin Education, a global ed-tech platform
specializing in upskilling and reskilling
programmes for young professionals, onboarded
acclaimed Indian author and speaker - Chetan
Bhagat - as its brand ambassador.
 Iconic Swiss luxury watch brand – Rado -
onboarded Indian film actor Katrina Kaif as its
newest global brand ambassador.

 The Centre appointed Koppu Sadashiv Murthy as


the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of
‘Maharatna’ Central Public Sector Enterprise
(CPSE), BHEL.
 MS Dhoni, widely regarded as one of India's

brand ambassador of State Bank of India, wherein
he would assume a crucial role in various

bank.

 The Indian Navy decommissioned the long-range
maritime patrol aircraft Ilyushin-38, after 46 years
of glorious service to the nation.

vast maritime boundaries, the Indian Navy reached
another milestone with the launch of the 25T
Bollard Pull (BP) Tug, namely Mahabali.

 The 2023 National Games of India, also known as
the 37th National Games of India, were held from
October 25-November 9, 2023 in Goa.
 “The Lords of Wankhede: Tales Between Two
Titles”, a book exploring the evolution of Indian
cricket in the 28 years between the two World Cup
successes of 1983 and 2011, has been co-authored
by senior journalist R. Kaushik and former Indian
cricketer, W.V. Raman.
 Technology & Environment
 State-run oil and gas majors BPCL & GAIL signed a
15-year contract, estimated at a value of over Rs
63,000 crore, for the supply of propane, a critical
petrochemical feedstock.
 In a significant move aimed at wildlife protection
and care, the Karnataka state government, in
partnership with the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI),
launched the HAWK (Hostile Activity Watch Kernel)
system, a specialized software system to monitor
all aspects of forest and wildlife crimes.

 Art, Culture & History


 In an important step aimed at preserving the
unique cultural, social, and traditional heritage of
tribal communities, the Chhattisgarh state
government granted habitat rights to its Baiga
PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group).
 The world-famous Rann Utsav - a 3–4-month long
carnival, celebrated in the Dhordo village, and
known for showcasing the rich cultural and artistic
heritage of the historically significant Kutch district
of Gujarat - commenced recently.
 Miscellaneous
 AI (Artificial Intelligence) was named the most
notable word of 2023 by renowned dictionary
publisher Collins.
 The Jharkhand State Cabinet approved ‘Abua Awas
Yojna’ (AAY) — a housing scheme for the poor
which will provide eight lakhs of pucca houses to
the homeless in the state at a total budget of Rs
16,320 crore.

 The Karnataka state government launched ‘Dr.


Puneeth Rajkumar Hrudaya Jyoti Yojana’ to treat
people suffering from sudden heart attacks and
cardiac issues.
 Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)
Chairman S Somanath is all set to release his
autobiography titled "Nilavu Kudicha Simhangal". It
is written in Malayalam and promises to be a tale
of motivation, focusing on the power of hard work
and perseverance in facing difficulties.
