BUILDING UTILITIES TYPES OF CONDUITS

MIDTERMS 1. METALLIC
- thin layer of steel
- metal conduits or flexible conduits
- mostly used for exteriors (service entrance)
I. WIRING SYSTEMS - made of steel which is very strong
- electrical system that brings the power
from the pole or the other point on the PVC - not UV resistance
exterior power distribution live to the point
on or inside the building NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturing
- system where the delivery of a power is Association)
distributed within a building - assures that the pipe / electrical
components depends on the requirements
1. EXPOSED INSULATED CABLES
- nowadays its not adisable to use TWO TYPES OF METALLIC CONDUITS
- it depends on the sting to protect the  CLASS A CONDUIT
conductor. - low gauge
- thin pipes
2. INSULATED CABLES IN OPEN - thin layers steel
RACEWAYS - schedule 20 (thickness)
- intended for industrial application
-relies upon both cable and tray for safety  CLASS B CONDUITS
- high gauge
3. INSULATED CABLES IN CLOSED - schedule 40 (thickness)
RACEWAYS
-tubo na malaki (retangular) METAL PIPES/ CONDUIT
- THE STANDARD LENGTH IS 6M.
4. FLEXIBLE METAL CLAD
- assembly of wires and plastic insulated 2. NON METALLIC CONDUIT
bound together with a tape or braided - must be so labelled and must be resistant
wrapped to moisture and corrosion.

BUSDUCT - carries a lower ampacity of bus PVC - polyvinyl chloride (plasticized)

bars. UPVC - Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride
(upgraded)
CABLEBUS - carries a higher ampacity of - intended for water supply and
bus bars. electrical
BLUE - water supply (mas makapal)
ASSEMBLIES - intended for higher pressure
- 200 psi
 FLAT CABLE ASSEMBLIES
- connection extended directly to the device ORANGE - electrical
- 2 to 4 conductors - cheaper than blue
- designed to rest
- composed with very thin conductors with UCPVC -Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride
3-4 wires (mas upgraded)

 LIGHTING TRACK PPR - Polypropylene random

- black or white - use for cold or hot water
ACCENT LIGHT - for highlights HDPE - high density polyethylene (black)
AMBIENT LIGHT - enhance PET - Polyethylene terephthalate
ABS - Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene
5. CABLE TRAY / OPEN RACEWAY JUNCTION BOX - where all wires meet

6. STEEL CONDUIT SWITCH -- design to interrupt or prevent the

- protect and enclosed wiring from current flow of circuit
mechanical injury and corrosion - poles - contact
- kabaliktaran ng exposed insulated… - throws - contact to contact
SPST - single pole, single throw
TWO POLE  GENERAL NOTES
- all are connected - basics and standards to be followed
- if you turn off the switch, everything will - guidelines
turn off as well.  LEGENDS AND SYMBOLS
CIRCUIT HOMERUN
DOUBLE THROW TWO POLE SWITCH CONTINOUS LINES - circuit
- example is yung sa paggamit nung genset SWITCHES
S1 - one gang switch
AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCH GANG - number of switch
- kusang magswitch yung electric current
from gen set to cagelco. THINNER LINES - which light are being
controlled by the switch
PUSH BUTTON SWITCH
- momentary switch 10 LIGHTING FIXTURES - max. Number

TOGGLE SWITCH 19 lighting fixtures - 1 home-run

- manually actuated and pushed up & down
- lever - like switch EXHAUST FAN - connected on the lighting
- light control switches layout
WR - weather resistant
LIMIT SWITCH WP - weather proof
-
AF - AMPERE FRAME
FLOAT SWITCH P - POLES
- used for water reservoir AT - AMPERE TRIP
- controlled by a conductor kAIC - KILO AMPERE INTERRUPTING
CAPACITY
PRESSURE SWITCH
- used for pressurized tanks

TEMPERATURE SWITCH
- usually used for electric kettles, oven,
aircons…

JOYSTICK SWITCH
- used mainly in portable lifting equipment
- ideally suit for lowering, triggering
movements

ROTARY SWITCH
- burner switch is an example
- 1 or more moving contacts

PHOTO SWITCH
- same with motion switch but using a
camera.

- represents all the connection throughout
the lighting, power, and communication
utilities.
 SCHEDULE OF LOADS
- tabulation and computations
# 1 to # 4 - lighting
#5 - convenience (start)
