Description:
Alumni of Vienna University
Physicist and Philosopher
One of The Father of Quantum Mechanics
Erwin Schroedinger was born on August 12th, 1187, in Vienna, Austria. Schroedinger worked
as a professor at the University of Zurich, during which he made some of his most
significant contributions to quantum physics. Erwin died on January 4th, 1961, at the age
of 73. His most important contribution to quantum mechanics was in the form of the
Schroedinger Equation, which governs the evolution of wave functions. Schroedinger
developed this equation in Vienna in 1925. Ten years later, he theorized superposition in
the form of what is now known as “Schroedingers cat”, which was presented in a paper co-
written by himself and Albert Einstein.
